Only certain campus take smaller babies (aug-oct) n they will be grouped in one class. So relatively small babies will have a better chance.

last year it is group interview for first round candidates, 20mins each session. First part: around 3-4 kids and their mommies to play toys individually, teachers (eng/mandarin/cantonese) rotate to come and have a quick chat. 2nd part: all go to circle time (Cantonese teacher reading a story + Eng teacher singing & dancing). Mandarin teacher observed and scored. Mommies sat close to their kids.

Each hour, there is 2 session and 7-8 classrooms are all open for interviews. So it is very busy. But they let you in early and you can walk around in the open area (library corner, indoor playground ,library etc), just like open day.

There will be a lot of staff and call for your kids when it is your slot. Pls wait near your classroom.

Last year over 1000 applicants for 100 places and normally you need to go thru second in (one-to-one, parents talking with the principal and kid playing) before you get an offer. But some playgroup kids also have offer without going thru the second interview.

It is very hard to stand out during the group interview to get a chance to second round. But the chance of getting an offer from second around is very high unless parents answer badly or the kids behave very badly.

something like, what's ur name? who came with you? or demonstrate how to play the toys (say shape matching one) and play with kids for a while. I doubt if that part counts a lot of scores. it should be warm-up...

and the story/music is NOT the common one. unlikely you can prepare at home.

My assumption is big babies (spanning from nov-jun roughly) will be in one class both am n pm. Whereas smaller babies (July-oct) in another one class, both am n pm. Assuming the applicant number spreads evenly, don't u think the chance is higher for smaller babies? N not many schoolWould specially group smaller one into one class for more attn.

But of coz big babies usually receive more offers outside n they may not pick Vic eventually. For July-oct babies very difficult to get offers from other famous school n this separate queue at Vic is very important.

Vic isnt that strict n they wont fail ur kid simply by repeating questions. I think their format - plagroup like intends to observe rather than test the kids lanuage or common sense. They seldom ask color, shspe or those fruit like knowlege question.

I think u are right!For my kid, actually they didn't really ask questions to him, but would observe how he played and interact with the parent!
