標題: 讀VSA仍要補習嗎？ [打印本頁]

想問下各位，你地的小朋友讀幾年班，有冇去補習？補啲乜？補習費每個月幾多？

Year1的學費已差不多九千蚊，要預算學費以外的開資。謝謝。

Not needed at all. EXCEPT perhaps hiring a Putonghua tutor OR if you don't have time to spare 2-3 hours per week on homework with the child.
My child is in Grade 3.

以我觀察，的確見維小學生在不同中心去補中文丶普通話丶數學等，我估可能每人對成績的期望不一樣。（我不是維小家長）

對，每人要求不同，我一個6年級一個9年級，至今無補習。有入了科大的師兄說讀DP時試過至専補IB的中心，覺得幫助不太，當然亦有人覺得幫到。我個人認為小朋友自己找到方法最好，我女兒會同同學在skype討論功課，我鼓勵她不明就問老師，老師常常説堂上互動最重要。

如果唔計補習費用，除每月學費外，VSA每年有咩其他費用／hidden cost?

中學一般雜費(一年一次）、校車、午飯（可自己帶）、書（學校委托書店代購，大部分家長可上網買會平D）、after school activity自由選擇參加，有些收費、year 6起每人一部Mac book, 每年一次外遊，今年起必須選擇一次到中國，一次到東南亞，其他自由選擇，亦有本他團提供供。有時一些活動屬某些科目（通常DP，如drama會到外地）.

要家長的support, 至於這個是outsource (即補習）或家長親力親為，是個人選擇。小兒早幾年都有點補習，今天不須要了，他懂得自學。

Can you help provide a rough estimate on all costs if the kid takes school bus, and eats meals provided by school and join 2 Extracurricular activity?

I really like IB but am afraid it is too costly for me.

My friend's child in Y3. have been following his progress since Y1. The child is reasonably smart. But either a parent needs to follow up the hw or you need a tutor to do so. Some of the hw cannot be completed by the child and requires adult assistance. However, I think in upper primary, when a child has learned more technique in studying/doing his own work, it will be better. Lower years - definitely requires adult support.

Hi Poonseelai,

My 11-year old son will go for entrance tests and interview at VSA in May 2014. It seems like you are an expert of VSA, do you have any insights on what level English, Maths and Chinese to be tested? Anywhere that I could possibly find some sample tests? And what type questions will they usually cover during the interview?

Myp 升上dp 後好多災難

集中火力補英文。自己攪得好英文就不用補

災難之一選 eng lang b 的人不少

更大問題是佢地學生本身覺得lang b 無問題

If the student's Eng standard is not good enough, choosing lang B is not a bad choice. I think the recognition of IB DP Eng B HL is generally better than DSE Eng, say in the UK and HK.

If VSA students take Chi A, that is very good, a bit out of my expectation, as I thought VSA was kind of IS. Having good results in Chi B is already very satisfactory for such kind of school, let alone good results in Chi A.

Technically, VSA is a private independent school according to EDB. However, it is also recognised by IBO as an IB world school and accredited by the Council of International Schools.

90%+ students are local/ethnically Chinese and their general English standard is between traditional international schools and local schools.

我先前在另一個 TOPIC  嘗試做了一個間接比較，QUOTE 過這個 LINK。
當時 TOPIC 討論 DSE vs IB ENGLISH。

表面看，DSE ENGLISH 5** = IBDP ENGLISH B HL 5 = IELTS 7.5；牌面看 IBDP ENGLISH B HL 比 DSE ENGLISH 水平高。但，這又絕不能就認為 IB ENGLISH B  的認受性比 DSE ENGLISH 好。

要明白，DSE ENGLISH  只得一個 LEVEL，無論你點叻，你都係要跟大隊讀同一個課程，因此，英美加澳大學覺得你讀 DSE ENGLISH  冇問題，最多係跟個別大學要求，另加 SAT IELTS 之類。

但 IBDP 選科就不同了，有 LANGUAGE A 和 LANGUAGE B 給學生選，如果看清楚大學的要求，大家會看到，有些大學有些 MAJOR  會要求 IBDP 的學生係讀 ENGLISH A ，明碼實價。這亦因此是很多網友一直都希望家長和學生要想清楚才選 ENGLISH B  的原因。當然，讀 ENGLISH B  不是沒有出路，選大學和選 MAJOR  時不選要求 ENGLISH A 的就得，如果家長和學生都明白就好。

I generally agree with your points. My previous posts mainly explained that some students whose English might not be strong enough would choose Eng B HL which could be a more sensible choice for them.
