Hi all
Anything wrong with the below sentence:
I like eating chocolate
I think the above sentence sounds good. We can use gerrund after the word 'like', right? Or we can re-write the sentence as follows:
I like chocolate
I like to eat chocolate
I am not an expert, I think the above three sentences look ok. However, the teacher said the first one was wrong. My kid asked the teacher why. Even more surprised, the teacher told my kid to think herself...what an attitude. The role of teacher is not teaching students? Remember, my kid is only in primary schoo, not really senior primary. Please also note the chapter before, the teacher was teaching to use like + ing form of verb. My kid and her classmates were very frustrated.
Thanks for your advices in advance

I prefer to answer in this way-
I like to eat chocolates. (usual and facts so we use present tense).

似乎兩句都對,似乎分別是:
I like eating chocolate: 我很喜歡吃朱古力,這一刻未必想吃。
I like to eat chocolate: 你問我現在喜歡吃甚麼?我答這一刻我選擇吃朱古力。

Hi all
Anything wrong with the below sentence:
I think the first sentence is grammatically correct but it may not be the same as the third one. The first one is more about the behaviour.
From Collins:
If you like something such as a particular course of action or way of behaving, you approve of it.
I've been looking at the cookery book. I like the way it is set out...
The US administration would like to see a negotiated settlement to the war...
Opal, his wife, didn't really like him drinking so much...
I don't like relying on the judges' decisions.
The third sentence is telling you his preference and normal action to be taken.
From Collins:
If you say that you like to do something or that you like something to be done, you mean that you prefer to do it or prefer it to be done as part of your normal life or routine.
I like to get to airports in good time...

Bingo. My kid was asked what her preference on dessert, therefore, she said 'she likes eating chocolate.'

I just want to say I have no words on the teachers nowadays. My kid goes to a pretty good school already...She was just taught similar structure in early first semester...Teachers can make mistakes, we all make mistakes; my point is the teachers do not explain even when students asked her. What an attitude! I can also be wrong, but I will try my best to correct my mistakes.

Hi all
Anything wrong with the below sentence:
In the first place, you should write 'anything wrong with the sentence below', not 'below sentence'.
