請問如何培養小盆友閱讀習慣？
我個女讀緊PN，我已買左的phoncis教材同Oxford Reading Tree教材，全部都配有點讀筆，小朋友可以自行點讀發聲。但眼見小女唔係太中意睇書，淨係中意玩puzzle (屋企幾套50 pieces的puzzle佢已能在2-3分鐘內完成)。請問應該如何引導佢閱讀呢？咁細個小朋友，應該畀佢睇咩類型既書本呢？？係有文字定系冇文字果D呢？Thanks！

Dun u think its too early to start phonics for a 2 years kid?I think the most important thing is make her like reading by her interest. At different stage, child has his or her own sensitivity for particular thing. A 2 year old kid should be happy to play with motor skills and space. If u give her sth she is not interested, and she is forced to do so, it will have negative impact.
I think u may start to sing more songs in English, and learn letters one by one with her. To convince her, at least u are also have reading habit, no TV, and spare time with her and influence her.
I can't say I am a gd teacher to my daughter, but so far, she likes reading,I didn't teach her any phonics but she can also read by herself in chi and English (of course simple one)

Thank you. My girl is 2 yr and 7mths old now and has already recognized 26 letters in both uppercase and lowercase.
I have never pushed her to do any thing she doesn't like, that's why I feel a bit upset when she told me that " I don't like reading" . I know it is really important for a kid to develop an interest in reading. So I hope to seek advise here to see what I can do to let her like reading books.

i think a good book is a book your kid feel like to read and is interested to read everyday. My daughter likes to read particular books everyday as the stories inside attract her.

You should be the one who attract her to read the book with you. You use different voice to represent different character when you read the book. She will then have interested to read the book with you.

我覺得最理想的是先培養自己的閱讀習慣，因為小朋友總是學大人。其次是為小朋友選擇有趣，但程度適合的讀物。

I couldn't agree more. It is important to promote their interest in reading at this age instead of gaining any knowledge or skills out of it. My 2.5 years-old likes books too. Of coz he is not into serious reading yet but he loves us telling him stories from the books and he will also join in the "discussion" along the way. If we are not free, he will still grab a book and read on his own. We bought ordinary story books for him, no flip flap, no gimmicks, no phonics, no flash cards, no sound, no puzzles, just ordinary story books but maybe come with more interesting pictures for his age. No TV and electronics devices (such as ipad) is a must coz TV is definitely more appealing to them than books.

1 父母身教好重要,父母常在子女面前閱讀,小朋友自然有樣學樣
2 平時擺放書籍,要把封面向出,用封面的圖畫吸引小朋友自己取書,不要提佢攞書睇,唔好俾壓力佢,擺書的地方要以小孩的高度為準則,而且唔止放在客廳,睡房和廁所都放一些,讓小朋友隨時隨地都可接觸書籍,並且隔一段時間換不同的書
3 唔同年紀的小朋友需要的書都不同,一歲前俾布書或膠書,任咬任掟,志在令BB愛書。歲半前可加入board book,慢慢到唔搣書才加入普通紙的繪本
4 選用繪本或photo book,咁細睇書,書中每頁至多一句,最好是無字天書,單慿想像力根據圖畫說故事,甚至問小朋友問題,鼓勵小朋友一齊創作故事,讓小朋友發揮想像力,覺得好玩就會多接觸書
5 你小朋友鐘意puzzle,可選擇立體書俾佢睇(教材書未必夠多立體書),大個D仲可以同佢一齊做立體書
6 多帶小朋友去圖書館,你會見到好多父母會在圖書館和他們的小朋友說故事,讓小朋友感受讀書的風氣,當然你地都即場伴讀,讓小朋友感受親子閱讀的歡樂。而且借書亦可讓小朋友學會分享和節儉。
7 在家伴讀時,如果小朋友對字沒有興趣,是因為對字的敏感期未到,可以播些background soft music (例如大自然聲音,古典音樂),著重圖畫,聲音,做動作,和小朋友一齊玩,都係果句,小朋友覺得好玩才會做

同意。我認為要有興趣及能認字，才會自己看書。因此，我先跟女兒看圖畫字典(睇中/英文書開始時都係字典，英文會用按主題分類的圖解字典，推介oxford的，內有海洋公園、各節日，小朋友較熟悉)，然後看簡單故事書(ORT買全套)，4歲女兒已不要我伴讀了，現在5歲，能着懂外國推薦5歲兒童看的簡單chapter book。
(我自己英文唔好，屋企是講廣東話)

仲當然啦，佢得2歲幾,...我又無特別谷佢學英文
但我想講既係，佢好抗拒英文lor；唔睇又點識呢...但我都唔想迫佢，驚佢連中文書都唔想睇....

我仔和女在這年齡最愛看幼稚園的課本，我在二手市場買其他學校的課本。他們看了再看，樂此不疲。他們最愛追著要我講，漸漸也會自已看，但當然不會裡面的文字。看圖畫他們已明白內容。你也可以試試啊！

1. Bring her to the library
2. LET HER CHOOSE what she wants to read, and also
3. Find out what she likes and choose some books that talk about her favourite topics
4. This age is to develop interest. Doesn't have to be strict, accurate, finish the entire book and read every word. If she leaves 1/2 way, skip some pages or want to repeat some pages, don't be too stressed about it.
Let her and resume another day. You can make reading into a bedtime routine, but other times she's free to choose when she wants to read.
5. Remember : If you need to force your girl to read, you are not helping them develop her interest.
6. Don't give her too many books at a time. Put books neatly and attractively on a low shelf, with covers facing forward, a few (3 - 5) at at time, and rotate the books often.
7. Have a reading corner at home.
8. Cut down or stop ipad / computer. They are certainly more appealing than books.
9. At age 2+, they may enjoy looking at pictures, focusing on details etc.
Read to them, and ask her what she sees from the pictures. Ask her "where is xxx", "what is xxx", "what is happening etc." and let her point them out.
10. Reading is more interesting when it's related to their lives and involve 'field work'.
Let's say if you chose books on cats, one day you may bring her to a pet shop and show her real cats to reinforce her understanding and interest. If she read about flowers, then show her some real flowers and talk about them if you come across a park / plant or flower shop. If it's just about daily objects, when hunt for related items around the house etc.
In general, going out (instead of indoors) can expose them to lots of new things that can stimulate their interest. 11. Sitting down and reading together is more interesting and interactive than a reading machine. I would use reading pen later when she shows greater interest in it.
12. Adults should set good example. You can't expect her to love reading if adults at home prefer gadgets / TV.

Now My daughter loves reading picture books and story telling. And I want to know when I should start to teach her recognizing words so that she is able to read simple words and sentencies. Do you have any recommendations?

I don't have very much personal experience in this yet because my girl is only 2 years old.
Yes she really loves books and sometimes it's the first thing she'll ask me to do with her after she wakes up before her breakfast, or before bed.
She is still more interested in pics than words.
I have tried getting books with just very simple words or sentences next to the picture and point them out to her as I read along. She is not very interested in words yet, I guess she's reached her sensitive period for written text yet.
As long as she loves books I'm not so worried, and it's just a matter of time she'll pick it up.
Some of my relatives didn't teach phonics but just read to their kids everyday as part of their daily routine and they started to pick up reading skills around 3.
For my girl, school will teach phonics around 3 and also have word / reading games, activities. From what I've heard, the school will teach reading in series of steps: 1. Train small muscles of hands with hands-on activities and games
2. Then ask them to learn how to trace letters and as they trace they learn the word's sounds (phonics).
3. Then reading will come naturally, and they will reinforce their learning with word compostions, and then sentence composition educational materials.
(By the way, beause she goes to a montessori school, the way they teach reading is different from most other schools. Later I'll know if this method works well for my girl, then I can share more experiences. )
I'll just relax because by time she starts to learn how to read she'll acquire the skills quite fast.
Why force it when she's not ready?
