Thanks Hihinsurance's advice. DD got acceptance letter from 3 and yet from Westminster which shall be out today.
It is hard to pick. I thought St Swithun is rather strong in Science ...?
Can someone share the learning atmosphere of those school please?
If you got acceptance from all, which one would you take?
Thanks again for the valuable inputs.

I think you should study the Oxbridge acceptance rate of each school, which normally can be found on the school website or prospectus. If you are going for sixth form (which I believe is your case with Westminster among your choices), getting into your desired university is the primary, if not only, aim of the two years' study. If I were you, I would choose the one that can offer the best chance of getting into Oxbridge.
Thanks cca. Westminster has the highest Oxbridge acceptance rate amongst the list. It is of course important. However, I want to explore other important views that I may miss. Thanks again...

Westminster has the highest Oxbridge acceptance rate of >50%, but it is primarily a boys' school with some girls in the A-level years. Also it is not a full boarding school so making friends may be difficult. And being right in the middle of London will mean plenty of distraction.
Personally I think Wycombe would be a better choice.
Thank you Peter! You've got it right. That makes it hard to pick. I like Wycombe better because it is away from the city with less distraction.
Anyone has experience on these school please?
To be honest, if your child is academically strong enough, any of these schools can get her into Oxbridge. The most important thing is to decide which school will provide the best environment for her to concentrate on her studies.
Westminster i have already mentioned.
St Swithun's has a relatively smaller % of boarders so it may get a little lonely at the weekends.
So for me, it is a straight choice between Wycombe and St Catherine's. Wycombe may be academically a little stronger but really not by much. At the end of the day, it is whichever school your daughter feels most comfortable with.

Got acceptance letter from Westminster just now.
Thanks Peter for the analysis. You are right; it is all about her feeling; but still I want to provide her as much objective views to be considered before making the final decision.
Thank you all again for the strong support....

Your girl is really bright! If you could kindly share how you nurture your girl, many parents including myself will certainly benefit.
Peter Pan's analysis is very true and correct. But if your girl does not come from a girls' school, your girl may or may not easily blend in wycombe abbey as it is rumored (not sure true or not) the girls are v competitive and girls can be bitchy. Some mothers being educated in girls' schools refuse to let their daughters go to girls schools.
We can only live once and who can tell if any choice is right or wrong? Best is to visit the schools at term time (not during holidays) and follow your daughter's heart.

Sure. I think she should have worked extremely hard.
No pain no gain - it is true. But talent is also important.

Could you tell us which 4 subjects your girl is taking? Thanks!
Thank you all for the valuable inputs. DD is reading all with us. All advises are very much appreciated. A very difficult decision to make. She will do Phy, Chem, Bio and Math in A level. In terms of nurturing, we offered her all possible learning opportunities, sports, music, drama, languages....and she will pick her own favor one to develop further. Thus she used to have a very busy schedule every day including summer. BUT those were what she enjoyed. This is just my experience and certainly is limited. Thx.

Looking at this latest set of A Level result, I would have thought Wycombe Abbey is stronger in humanity than in science subjects. But I am not sure what the norm is. Any idea?http://www.wycombeabbey.com/academic-achievement/A_Level_Results.php

Since you have applied and got offers from these top tier schools, I have no doubt that you know what you are doing. Westminster is currently the number one boarding school academically and has been so for many years. Even though the other girls schools are Division One materials, I would take a boys school Westminster for my girl in the 6th Form. If she cannot get into Oxbridge, she will get a decent husband.

With the possible exception of the recent success of Nick Clegg, Westminster is not generally known as a modern political school.

Decent husband is good; but a decent job in the future is more secure. Thank you all again. My DD frequently check all of the inputs from you all. Thank you all for giving advices from various angles and facets.

Check out The Good Schools Guide and subscribe a minimum one month subscription. You should able to see more information of the schools you concerned including review and the university destinations for 2009-2011!

If a decent job is your priority, then I would change my previous recommendation.
