What is the chance of my girl being accepted to the school? We received the letter last week.

A 6 million dollar question which no one can answer because it will depend on soooo many variables ... children of staff, nomination right, sibling, alumni, interview performance, luck, child's character, foreign passport, passport issuing country, appearance, race etc etc etc

If you've already received an invitation letter to interview for a confirmed place, then chances are high that your child will get a place, so long as her English is strong and she has no special learning needs that the school cannot accommodate. As far as I know, ESF has not changed their non-selective criteria nor the fact that they only interview when there is either a spot reserved for your child or - in the case of a waitlist ("reserve list") interview, when there is a high chance a place will free up.

The only new criteria is the parent interview. No one knows how much weight that will carry on the acceptance process.

Anyway, relax and good luck! (Also congratulations! Getting the interview invitation is in many ways much harder than getting the acceptance. So consider yourself having cleared the biggest hurdle!)

"Reserved list" means your child is offered an interview for a "non-confirmed space". If your child passes interview, he/she will be put on the "reserved list" . Once a spot frees up (eg. A child with a confirmed place interview either fails or gives up the place), these places will go to those on the reserved list (in the order of the random number assigned at registration).

Have they offered you an interview slot? I think "reserved list" is the same as last year's "year 1 entry list". After the interview, you won't get spot right away but based on past experience, you have a good chance to be offered one before the school year starts.

Really?
I went to their Year 1 Parent Information Session yesterday. I know they have some different start from this year.
They said due to the high number of applications they will offer first to children from reserve list pending availability of a space.

Does it say in the letter that it's "reserved list"? The letter just say Interview offer for school place if successful. We'll see what happens!

My son's interview is on Jan 15 morning. How can I know what's his random number assigned at registration?

I would do the interview first and then after your son received notice that he has passed the interview, then you can check with the school to see where you are in the list. Usually ESF schools are pretty good about letting parents know about their status/chances of getting a spot - but first your child needs to pass their interview.

Jenntang, sounds like you got a confirmed seat offer letter. So if your child passes the interview (which most do!) you will be offered a place.
Last year some schools (like ours - Glenealy) were very forthcoming after the interview and pretty much told us straight out after the interview that we would get a spot.

Other ESF schools (I heard Bradbury was one) were more discreet and did not say anything to parents after the interview. But even in that case, I'm told no news is good news! (Basically they will approach you if there are any concerns/problems observed in the interview.)

My son finished the interview yesterday and he also said he likes the school(Kennedy). We can't reach the teachers cause we asked to wait on the ground floor and one teacher bring them to 1/F classroom.

Hope he can get a spot.

I think your girl will gets a spot cause you received an invitation letter to interview for a confirmed place, so your chances are higher than my boy that in "reserve list" to get a place.
