Renaissance college may be more suitable for your daughter. Change if they accept her, you will not regret for it.

Just observe from my girl and her classmates, all of them finished P.5 at pretty good LS and started secondary school at IS:

1. It really depends on the individual.
- My daughter has no problem to change and she is happy.  I am not 100% happy because she's too relaxed in my mind.
- One classmate felt bullied in her previous school and she's happy to change.
- Another girl did not enjoy primary school life, had difficulty making friends (she blamed that other classmates watched Jade TV!) and hated Chinese subject.  Turned out she still has problem making friends in IS and she has to drop out from the advanced Chinese class.
- A girl, not at my girl's IS, told my daughter that unlike what she thought she had loads of homework.

2. My daughter's English is quite good (in her mum's eyes, sorry ).  She spent 2 summer holidays in US and a lot of people thought that she's native.  She's still doing good at IS but not at the top top level. Last year she got A.  This year her English teacher told me that she's excellent in speaking and writing and everything but she's still got a B.  Never mind.  It does not really bother me a lot.  I am confident that her level is good enough.

3. It is easier to get into secondary stream of IS so suggest you to enrol for her ASAP.

BTW, IB Chinese first language is not easy at all (High Level IB is probably harder than DSE) so please do research what the IS offers.  If your daughter doesn't like Chinese avoid those schools that aim at bilingual IB diploma.

Just curious how your daughter managed to pick up a good command of English in LS.  Do you guys speak English at home?

I don't have any tips to share.  She is a crazy book lover and she only watched Eng TV programmes (her choice) when she was young.  She was in a pretty good English LS too.  The trade-off is she doesn't like Chinese at all.

My second kid, on the other hand, is very weak in English.  Haha!

My English is not so good and I always talk with her in Cantonese.   I don't want her to pick up my accent and I want her to use more Chinese.
