Hi everyone!

I am aninternational school student in Hong Kong, and want to apply to theuniversities here through non-jupas.

Since I have alreadyapplied to the UK and written a personal statement, do you think Ican use the same one for the ones in Hong Kong? Do the ones in HongKong want toread the same stuff as well, i.e.. evidence to show thatI am academic and interested in the subject I am applying for (75%for UCAS), then 25% for extra-curricular activities, prices/awards,jobs, work experience... etc.

Do you think I can just use thesame one? If not, how should I change it?

In fact, howimportant is it for applying to the uni in Hong Kong?

Also, ifI have already listed my work experience, prices/awards andextra-curricular activities on the application form, do I still needto give them a CV? If i don't, will that put me on adisadvantage?

By the way, I am applying for the samesubject!

I think the university counsellor at your school would be in a better position to answer your questions.

In fact, how important is it for applying to the uni in Hong Kong?

Be honest, not very useful. May be the ice breaking question for interview.

Some professors will consider that as tie breaker.

For UCAS, they will pay more attention to the PS.

Do you apply the same or similar programs in Hk vs UK universities?

If yes, you can use that as framework to fine tune to fit the HK requirements.

If not, you need to rewrite a new one or more.

My son's experience, one for UCAS, each one for individual university.... as different university may have different focus.

But do you think I need to say why I want to apply to HKU/HKUST/CHUK? Some people say I do, some say I don't, Personally, I don't think I need to, as I am sure many people have already said the same thing in their p.s., and I don't want to bore the professors, especially when it is obvious that their schools are good, or otherwise I wouldn't be applying to them. Instead, I want to say something like '...Therefore, I wish to continue my studies in Hong Kong, Asia's financial hub, and possibly apply the knowledge learnt at your university to contribute to the progress of my country...'

What do you think?

The Big 3 not really take holistic approach, personal statement just like your personal photo on the application form.
Try your very best and be yourself.
