由於校內counselor太多人要照顧，檢視馬虎CC壇D人又串又排擠國際生
大家有冇好o既補習社for報美國大學的PS／essay之類推介？

有考慮過NTX，The Exxe，Ivy Gaxx，Canx，ITX，Arcx等等
各位家長有無相關的經驗？Thanks a million

I don't think it is necessary to engage a consultant to write the PS for your kid. The so called consultant has a number of clients. The contents written (or guided by them) would be repeated for different clients. The admission tutors would know whether the PS is written by the applicant or by someone on his behalf.
It is a matter of wasting money - $100,000 to $200,000 or even more to engage a consultant to complete the application and write a PS. You can save this amount by spending US$15.95 (excluding postage) to purchase the book "The College Application
Essay" from CollegeBoard. The book tells you how to write a PS to express your own voice, not the voice of others.

Oh I'm sorry if I expressed myself not too clearly...I meant to look for tutorial centres that would give advice and not 'write statements for you'. I think it's really popular among US-bound students to do that...

I would think that the consultant would still charge you substantially for "reviewing" your PS. They would not charge by hour. My two kids had applied to US colleges in 6 and 2 years ago. I did not engage any consultant because the Vietnamese consultant asked for $40,000 to review a PS. I did not think it worthwhile. We relied on the school counsellor as well as their English teacher to help review their PS. Fortunately enough, they managed to obtain offers from top US colleges.

如果你係想搵補習社嘅話，佢地會要求你自己寫好咗份personal statement，然後幫你一個適合嘅導師去幫你修改或者教你點樣再寫得好啲，通常都係兩至三個鐘就會幫你搞掂份PS (呢個係NTX做法)，價錢大約2,3千

I would recommend you to buy "College Essays that made a difference" by The Princeton Review. It contains a lot of sample essays for reference. I bought it during the Book Fair from Page One and found it very useful.
