請問有沒有人讀過 Whitgift School? 從網上資料顯示，他的排名頗高，但不知校風及課外活動怎樣？是否很難入呢?

朋友的兒子今年9月開始讀Whitgift, 讃不絕口。但難入。

多謝你的回覆，小兒已經面試成功，正等筆試。你的朋友的兒子在香港成績如何？當時有沒有報讀其他中學呢？因為在BK 很少人談及，不知Whitgift 學校怎樣？Agent 最初也沒有介紹，是自己上網再找到的。期望你的回覆。

Whitgift 很好。你經邊間Agent﹖AA做呢間有經驗，你可打電話去AA了解下，例如去年收了什麼學生，學生水平如何。如學校稍後收了你小朋友，在作決定前，你可問AA可否介紹現正就讀學生的家長你認識，通通電話，再深入了解一下。

我的朋友也是經AA, 朋友兒子讀st jxxxxx, 成績中上，去年year 9 收5位, 全部名校.

我都是經AA報的。可能由於 Boarders 較少 (約一百人)，所以少人談及。知不知 Weekend 活動會否因人數少而不多呢？若與Tonbridge 或 charterhouse 比較，是否差好遠呢？

my son had applied for exactly Tonbridge and Charterhouse, will take the entry exams in Nov wor, you should have passed their interviews and application deadlines lu wor. I won't consides schools with low ratio of boarders as our kids would feel very lonely during weekends and holidays.

Between Tonbridge and Charterhouse, what would you choose then ?

not sure. We did visit Tonbridge in June and my son loved the school. But I was told by many friends that Charterhouse is a good school too. 考到才算吧！

Your son should have already sat in the entrance exam today. How about his performance. One of my friend told me that if the Math result is lower than 90%， the chance will be very slim. Have you heard about it？

Hihi happypapa. yes my son had taken the exam today. There were totally 6 year 10 applicants, not sure how much in total (taking exam on other days/centres)? My son was very nervous last night and this morning, fortunately he was calm during the exam. He said the Math exam was short and not difficult. I havent got an idea of the passing mark, and seems year 9 and 10 are sharing the same paper ? Maybe passing marks should be different ?

English of your son is about native level but he still found the Eng paper not easy. Can't imagine how the local school students can get through .

Hi Ruby 1219, for English, my son said the grammer part is not easy but satisfied with his performance in the comprehension and composition parts.
For Maths, my son considered the past paper was easier than the one today. He took the lower level for maths as he was also from the international school.

there shouldn't be any grammar questions in Tonbridge exam wor , just comprehension and writing. what did u mean by lower level math? I don't know there are different levels for you to choose from ?

Yes...further clarified that my son did not know the answer for some of the Qs in the comprehension....I misunderstood his message to me!!
For Maths, there are two levels. For local school, they take the higher one for for us lower one........If your son is an international student, he should take the lower level which should be clearly stated on the paper (and also the acknowledgement letter emailed to you by AA)

I just asked my son he also has no idea about the lower level math paper for int'l school kids!

My son is very excited about today's exam and he asked me when will we get the result! He wished he can get an offer.

How would you choose between Tonbridge and Charterhouse? I am thinking if we should pay a visit to Charterhouse if he luckily got a place.

and, which comprehension part your son found difficult ? my son said strange enough the poetry is easier than non fiction this time. When doing the past papers of common exams, my son found poetry comprehension very challenging

I had no idea as my son did not tell me all the details. There should be some different between year 9 and year 10 regarding the content. Hope both of us can get the offer. Good luck.

Yes. my son got the offer. Learnt from other moms, this school is very supportive and friendly.

This is really a happy problem. Both are excellent schools. Just like choosing between DBS and St Paul Co-edu.
