請問如獲面試，應否親往英國還是留在本地較好呢？可否分亨經驗之談。

小兒去年11月底在香港考 Aptitude Test（TSA) 及面試，
他的同學大部份在香港，少部份在大學面試，最後兩面都有被取錄，印象在香港面試者多些，不是到劍橋面試就表示有誠意，我知好多顧問這樣提議。

在劍橋面試，會在所選學院及所選學系教授分別面試。在香港則沒有細分，去年如果選 Economics, 面試教授來自不同學院，一位是醫學另一位是數學教授，略為沒有這樣對口，但問題會較大路，及多環繞個人描述作深入探討及分析，Economics會用約一半時間計數，好深，如果唔識，教授會提點一下，看你能否計算落去，看似考核面對難題的心態及如何處理，多於答案。

近年牛津指定在英國面試！

Thanks for sharing. Such info is interesting, although my kid won't be going abroad for financial issues.

Even, your kid may not go for overseas, you still can apply and also apply scholarships in HK. In EDB website, there are many scholarships. Try.

謝謝你的寶貴分享。如你所說，兩邊面試都各有成功例子，如香港見的學生較多，是否代表了到英國見的成功率高些？還是只因那位學生的成績和表現較突出？
另外，有没有申請prince philip或聽聞成功的例子可分享呢？

小兒有申請Prince Philip ,不過可惜落選，我知幾位網友孩子都有申請，不幸都是落弟。但他們在香港三大都有獎學金！
其實香港及海外有不少奬學金，除了EDB，DBS的Further Education section, 可以作補充。

小兒小五時，我們都已經參考它的網頁，內容是十分詳盡，如果自己學校沒有支援，可以作參考。
本地海外，國內升學，已經詳列多年，今年加多了臺灣大學。

海外暑期班，本地大學暑期班，應有盡有，而且公開給所有人參考，不會收收埋埋。

學校也有支援的，只是没有放在網站上任睇。

We would recommend that students in this situation do try to attend an interview in Oxford in December if shortlisted. However, we understand that students from other parts of the world may not be able to travel at short notice. In this case the college which is considering your application may choose to interview you by telephone, video conference or over the internet through Skype, but such an interview cannot be guaranteed.

1. College
There are 31 colleges in Cambridge, some are for Post-grad and some are for GIRLs only. Some are far from the center and some are really harsh. How to select?

Apart from the information of Cam’s site, you may read the following:

Besides, you may further consider the following:

a. TSA – Thinking Skill Assessment

There are sample tests in Cam and Ox sites (http://www.admissionstestingserv ... -for-tsa-cambridge/) , Try them! I personally try them and they are awful. I cannot even understand what they are actually asking. If you are strong in this kind of Qs, select the colleges who count the TSA such as Trinity, Peterhouse ….. If you are not strong, select the colleges who do not count such as Magdalene. (http://www.magd.cam.ac.uk/tests/)

FYI, if interviews are selected to be held in HK, TSA test is a must although the result may not be considered by your college if the college won’t count it.

b. Scholarship.
Jardine scholarship (http://www.jardines.com/communit ... -and-condition.html) is a FULL SCHOLARSHIP (up to $ Million) who only awards to Downing, Magdalene, Peterhouse and Trinity only. If this scholarship is one of your aims, your choices are limited.

c. Interviewers
You can select to be interviewed in HK or UK and there is a minor difference. In HK, you will be interviewed by 2 professors no matter which colleges. These 2 professors will prepare reports for your selected college and it is your college to make offer decision. In UK, you will be interviewed directly by the professors of that particular college you selected.

I cannot conclude which way is better as I found successful and fail cases in both senario.
But one thing you should bear in mind. The 2 professors who come to HK are Dr. Stuart Martin of Magdalene (http://www.magd.cam.ac.uk/sm137/ ) and Dr. James Hickson of Pembroke. (http://www.pem.cam.ac.uk/fellows ... 2/dr-james-hickson/) It is no guaranteed in the coming round but it was them for the past several years.

They are also the Admissions Tutors of their own colleges (Magdalene and Pembroke). If you interview in UK for these 2 colleges, you will meet them too. So, if you aim Magdalene or Pembroke and interview in HK, once they like you, you are most likely offered!!

Besides, you better study more about who they are. Dr. Martin is not a “shoe” but a Mathematician while Dr. Hickson is a medical doctor himself. So you can imagine what kind of questions they will ask. If you aim at Chem/Medi/Bio/ Psychology/Bio-chem ….. , you may be asked by Dr. Hickson. If you aim at Phys, Maths, Econ…… you will be most likely challenged by Dr. Martin. If you aim at others which are out of their aspects such as Geography, history, Eng Lit …. well, get prepare those crazy questions such as 「請說出你打西洋劍必勝之道」, 「分析劍橋究竟需要多少位理髮師;”……………

Honestly, the whole process is harsh and challenging. Although my son is not successful applying his dream U, he learned a good lesson throughout the process. Wishing you all good luck.

謝謝您詳盡的分亨，很有參考價值。今年還是那兩位教授，不过最後還是選擇到英國面見。無論成功與否將會是一個難忘的經驗。
