My child is at KCIS P2, he is very interested in "Maths" and "Science". Heard that GSIS is strong at Maths and Science, did anyone know about it? If so, will consider apply GSIS. Thanks.

GRADE 11 考C1,C2,S1 (ALEVEL AS LEVEL MATHS ) 以前

Hi, HIHinsurance
Thanks a lot for your information. Would definitely re-consider about it.

I think a very good backgorund and connection plus a very outstanding performance at the admission interview is required. The Mandarin is SImplified version. Many students have regular private tuition.
And yes, it is very good academically.

my son is a GSIS student since year 3 till now (year 9), he is very 性格純真, 樸素, but he loves and enjoys the school wor.
Comparing to local schools, GSIS is still much more relaxed.
My son is particularly interested and good at Math and Science, this was one of the reasons why I thought GSIS suits him.
However, to math talented kids (my son and a few boys in his class), they still feel Math lessons as too easy and boring. Most of them would take self-pacing/advanced online math courses e.g. EPGY, CTY.
I think GSIS is a rather 'academic focused' school amongst int'l schools, in fact their other subjects such as English, ICT, Geography, etc) are also very demanding as there are tests since Year 7 and many projects and book reports required.
But it's very different from local schools that, parents are not required/expected to help or involve in their homework or projects at all. I never check my son's homework, push him to do test revisions etc, and he is still doing fine and happy.
True that some parents put their kids in tutorials after school as these parents are aiming at top schools and universities overseas for their kids.
Agree with annie40, it's a matter of whether the school matches with the kid's personality and parent's expectation, either you like the school and try your best to accommodate, or just leave it if its not suitable for your kid.
