我上年都有同個仔去三大嘅資訊日，之前有問佢想約同學去定同我去，佢話同我去，所以一齊去。我見都有家長同學生一齊去，最緊要你個仔或女唔抗拒同你去，一齊去亦有好處，可以比下意見佢。

It's the right timing.
Personally, I prefer F3, before selection of subjects in Senior Secondary Curriculum.

You raised a good question, I need to reconsider different scenario.

In my mind, I considered the difference between 13/14 vs 14/15 and not 12/13 vs 14/15.

I am outside and double check the difference tomorrow.

I clicked the original post and my remark refer to the change of admission calculation, not focus on 4C + 2X any more is a good move to recruit better students in general. I am not refer to Science faculty.

唔計分？嘛一樣要3322，除非其他選修科（如M1M2）好叻，否則都係幫助不大。

For BBA, the grade is going up from 34 to 35. For GBus, the same.

In the previous admission criteria, Chinese and LS are counted and therefore some students can get in a program based on good grade in the two cores, but weak in electives, so they can't survive in the program. But some students may have flying colour results in Electives, but only pass in the two cores, they are out of certain programs. Professors knows the latter group more suitable for the programs.

If not counting the two core subjects, so students will have better grades and background on electives have better chance to get in the appropriate programs, reduce the chance of mismatching.

以前教授怕學生高分低能，現在更怕低分低能，只識吹水的學生。（低分是指選修科低分。）

我相信會跟，唔跟，d 理科人會可能流走往科大！
而且其餘兩大未公佈新的收生準則，重可以改。

我覺得清楚左，以前的計法跟本 doesn't make sense。

看看2013年港大的收生要求，從來港大理學院都是用Best 5來收生(其實由第一屆DSE就這樣), 可以不計中文和通識(當然成績好的話亦可放入FORMULA內計算), 是科大反應太慢，現在才跟風吧！

Not all faculties, read the admission requirement. Even if you are good in maths, you do not have a better advantage if you want to got Science and Social Science.

For Science, it is just a must to be included in the formula, but no increase in weighting.
For Social Science, you can choose not to have maths included in the formula.

You are right about weighing.
My original thought is all HKUST faculties are not follow 4C + 2X, and you are right Science and Social Science don't have weighing on English and Maths.

For HKU, only Science for best of 5, how about other faculties?

無錯, 只要你理科夠出色, 而中文只得3的話, 港大都收你.
我囡學校師兄, 舊年DSE理科成績好勁,但中文只得2, 無大學讀.
今年補考中文, 結果考到3, 港大收左.

事實係, 除非入理學院唔計中文成績, 如果唔係, 改變都不大.
