My boy 5yrs old now has completed all (if not most) of the Oxford reading tree up to stage 9, he's fascinated about the "magic key" types of adventure, so he's very motivated to read them. Now, I am looking for more interesting stories, with some kind of little adventure like the "magic key's", do you parents have any recommendation?

I don't think he's quite ready yet for beyond ORT stage 9, because those books are with a pages of plain text without illustration, he's 5+ now, while he's motivated to read the text to find out about the story, I think he still enjoys looking at the illustration and add a bit of his own imagination to keep him further interested...

I thought about the Magic School Bus... Any other story books you parents know of? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Move on! Don't stick to ORT.
My boy read series of Cam Jansen ( detective story), Bailey School and etc.
You could find suitable books from the flyers of Scholastic book club.

Yes, Cam Jansen is a good series. U may try Berenstain Bears about the real life situations and so let kids understand how our real world working.

Radiomama. where do you get the flyer of scholastic book club? I haven't had is anymore when the school stopped providing it.

Can try Curious George series,Winnie the Witch (some think this is for girl but my boy likes it), Magic School Bus, Mog series eg Mog's Christmas where Mog is a grey fat cat,

how about "Happy Families" by Allan Ahlberg?
it's a series of 20 books, funny stories with colourful illustrations.

Usborne young readers have some simplified version on classic adventure stories: Ali Baba & forty thieves, Sinbad the sailor, Around the World in 80 days, adventures of Ulysses etc

I just read 1 (happy families) which is about a single parent family, how the kids helped their mum to find a new boyfriend... I am not sure if I should give book with such content to my kid. It appears that I am telling him that mum and dad can depart 1 day, there is no eternity in marriage. Or am I too conservative? My kid is just 7.

We are quite a happy family ourselves probably that's why my kids didn't get worried with stories like this. Anyway single parent families are mot uncommon nowadays, they have these kind of classmates. It's a good way to start discussions on these topics.
