To me, if the kid is old enough or can do self learning, then better to let him learn outside, otherwise, get a private teacher at home.

Private tutoring can tailor for your kid's specific needs and saves your kid's commute time.

For standard courses (assuming not one on one) provided by established institutes, you have to choose the one closest to your needs and your kid needs to spend time going to the specific venue. At the same time, these courses allows group interaction among kids of similar level or age which is not available in private tutoring (assuming one on one).
