The two schools are running very different curriculum. RC is an IB through train school from Yr 1-13. YC uses its own school-based curriculum for primary, IGCSE for secondary and then IB Diploma. The school environment is very different too. RC has a mix of students of different ethnicities and in YC most students are Chinese. RC also has the back-up of ESF which already has built up good reputation and connections with universities worldwide. This may be beneficial to university applications.

YC uses British National Curriculum for primary and prepare students for IB diploma throughout primary and secondary curriculum according to the school. RC and a lot of ESF schools are also mainly Hong Kongers (except those on the Island side). YC is well known around the world and has excellent connection with universities around the world.
And the most important of all, YC is a Christian background school and the children are generally well behaved.

Agree with sschiu. YC has more chinese and they put great emphasis on mandarin too.

May I know whether ESF kindergarten students have priority entry to RC and other ESF primary schools?

ESF kindergarten students will continue to have priority when applying to Renaissance College.
However this year's intake (2013-14) of K1 students will be the last batch to enjoy priority when applying to ESF primary schools as well as Discovery College (in 2 years' time).

So I rather stay in yew Chung cos their through train system and the kindergarten n primary offer is garanteen. Now my son already started Playgroup there . He loves it so much

Thats interesting! My own experience is my daughter got the offer of RC but on the waiting list of YC. Till now we don't receive any notice from YC.

ESF 報名係有時間限制,而YC係隨時都報得名,有無位都要睇報名時間.

In fact i think all schools are 隨時報得 when your kid meets their age requirement, depending on the availability of a seat. My son got into his current school in the 3rd term of Year 3, he was offered an interview by ESF in Oct when he was in Year 4 (we applied a year earlier).

記得online報 YCIS year 1 是二月初，很快YCIS 打電話來說現在沒有位，要wait list 很長。你可以考慮吾報退回報名費。我說我想繼續申請，wait 都沒所謂。不夠一個月，ycis 打來叫我女兒interview。 interview 後不到十天，就收到email話取錄了。

不過去年 YCIS year 1 收的外來生真的不多。女兒班 23 人，只有兩個不是底班直升。 ah女真是好彩。

聽過好多都係咁：申請時話冇位，要 wait，但一般等一兩個月就會話比你聽有位。

esf 和 ycis 的收生要求不同。

ycis 係排到你，有得 in 就有得讀，好少聽到有人考唔到，尤其係 year one，某程度上算係先到先得。換句話，入唔入到，係睇你 interview 條隊排第幾。如果有 30 個位，你排 40 ，好大可能連 interview 機會都冇。

esf 要求學生有高英語水平，因此 esf 申請者雖然多，但到 interview 時被 reject 的亦多，變相就算排到好後，都未必真係冇機會。如果有 30 個位，你可能排 60 都有機會有得讀，因為前面 59 個，可能多過一半被 reject。

咁睇YC waiting list 都好長，到已家都冇聲氣。不過當初報呢間都係當買多個水泡，其實不是我心儀。
