小朋友在主流學校讀得好吃力，成績一般，我𣎴想再做女巫，轉入國際學校是否好一些？可有同樣經驗的家長可以分享下？
1. 小朋友是否要英文好好？
2. 是否要降一級會易適應？
3.有那一所學費和按金較便宜？
4.插班要有什麼條件？

妳好，如果主流學校都覺得吃力，最好考慮清楚才去IS。國際學校首要是小孩能夠用英文學習和溝通，其次思想，創造力都跟本地學校要求𣎴同。IS不是易讀的，千萬不要作為本地學校的避難所。

Much easier for secondary school. At least for DC, i heard there are plenty of places.

Many IS students would go overseas after completing year 8 (i.e. Form 2 in LS), and chances of getting in may be higher.

That is true. However you have to put the kids on the waiting list, preferably a few years before.

小朋友幾大？main point is can speak fluent english then can try.

I really don't think fluent English is a requirement to study in IS. Just like if a kid can speak fluent Cantonese or Mandarin does't mean he or she can study well in LS. In primary school IS usually has less homework, kids need to well use of the time to read a lot of books in order to build up a strong language and self motivate foundation. The secondary requirement are much much higher than lot of LS. Less homework not equal to easy studying, if a parent looking for a shelter to escape from homework or test burden from LS and then change to IS, you have to rethink about it. As you may feel frustrated that the kid may not adapt both system.
IS and LS are using different approach to study, parents should observe their kids character first, then study more about both system and choose the one suitable for them.

A lot of elite LS kids change over to IS at secondary school level. If their English is up to par, they do thrive after a period of adaptation. I agree that they should not think of IS as a safe haven, but there is nothing to fear either.
Incidentally LS kids should be moving up a grade, not down, due to the age difference between LS & IS (IS kids enter primary 1 at age 5 vs LS kids enter primary 1 at age 6).

樓主都唔係第一次問、如果真係有決心就要準備下。至少要練好英語。難唔難就睇你幾有desire去準備。唔係你想就有得讀、是要考入學試的！如只是想hea就咪諗！

All IS will test children English and Maths. Maths is usually not a problem with LS students but English. I know some IS's students fail the English test of other IS.

大把小朋友在香港讀 LS 轉去外國讀中小學，一樣得。
可先轉去競爭沒有這麼激烈的 IS（HYL, KIS, Delia, YC, Kingston ...），讀得好高中再轉去成績好一點的（例如 ESF，不過現在已可排定 waiting list)。
不過如果 budget 是一個考慮，或者沒有出國讀大學的打算，可能轉去新直資好一點。
IS 每一間學校都不同 admission procedure，建議你坐言起行，直接聯絡心儀的學校，去 school visit 和報名。幾千元報名費，慳不了。

Agree.坐言起行。上来問問也很難幫你、太多因素及考慮、個個唔同。你上網睇下d學校先、有d要主動联络school office check. But must not easy lor esp u even not yet take first step.

主要都要睇下個小朋友性格同英文程度可唔可以應付國際學校的學習模式.

由本地學校轉入國際，真的不容易。國際學校流動性高，但一般收插班生，都好像會較喜歡選其他國際學校的轉校生。
我有兩位朋友，仔女同期時考國際學校 (插班)，一個是本地名校生，成績很好，另一個是讀另一間國際學校，成績普通。結果是讀開國際學校的成功考入，我作為旁觀者，覺得其實是名校生的水平全部都高班很多 (包括英文都肯定沒問題)。

請問大家我家小女幼稚園讀國際但升上主流小學P1，P2都能考全級10名以內，但發現她開始比較小講英語，所以想轉回國際小學，請問你們會這樣選擇嗎？請各位比些意見！謝謝！！

可能學校要的，不一定是學術尖子。
