Honestly....I went through the AP system myself back then. I really like it becuase there werent any pressure...I was studying in a local school until F.3. with average grades..but I got mostly 4 and 5 for all APs.n if you decide to study uni in the US. those AP grades are just'extra' marks...so If I get to choose again for my kid..I will choose AP..given that they have a local school background though.......if a student get 4.0 GPA...he will get into good uni even without AP....

Haha, I share your same experience and I actually regret I've done AP in US high school when I could have got better grades doing normal. Then having waived the 1st year uni courses means it actually made it difficult for me to get better grades in year 1 in case I need the grades to get priority to choose courses in year 2.

我的看法

1. AP 難度是比IB 高出不少

特別是數學與物理

AP的物理較著重電與力學

IB 物理則較全面

IB 的數學較著重CALCULS, 及PROOF

AP則著數推理, 將所有數學炒埋一碟

2. IB 歷史程度與 AP接近

但IB 需要的技巧非常高, 只有極極少數的人才能高分

3. IB 與AP 都讀得非常痛苦

特別是IB的TOK/EE , 相當用時間

4. AP 的書藉不足

結論是沒有太多的結論, 因為兩課程難度不低

AP較吃力 , 但自由度較大

首選美國, 名牌大學會極困難

渣住乜去伸請都難入

但要試, 仍有機會

首選美國, 次選加拿大的話

加拿大相對美國很易收生的

加拿大對 IB收生要求不高

亂咁派入學資格一樣

2. 好多報美國, 及加拿大的學生都是讀IB的

但考美國, 也一樣要考SAT, SAT 重語文

3. 文科弱, 終需面對面試, 語文能力,PEOPLE SKILLS 避無可避
趁小朋友年紀仲少, 應攪好溝通技巧及語文能力
出來工作, 也無法避開

3. 李寶椿(冇考AP,但SAT 2400分)上年有幾個人入到ivy league
說話及語文能力皆強

4. 我問過幾位李寶椿的小朋友, 他們/她們都去一間K字頭的TRAINING CENTRE補SAT

不要問我邊間, 也不要PM我, 因為我冇去過, 冇讀過

calculus BC 不留手, 是我以前大學讀數學系一年班的題目

IB 的HL maths, 隨了後部份, 有少少難, 大部份野真係不算難

是以前CE amaths, 再加一半部份的中七 pure maths

option paper = 以前少少al applied maths ,但淺好多

但係 maths BC 卷, 大概75%左右, 應該可以5 分

15% 左右的考生可以5分

而IB HL MATHS 大概10-11% 可以7分

In terms of giving credit, I think universities treat Calculus BC and Math HL similarly. You get similar amount of credit once you get a certain grade.

Was it one year of university calculus? I forgot, I think there were 4 calculus classes and you get waived out of first two.

Further to my understanding, the IB curriculum is to train up the logical thinking and the linguistic skills during MYP stage

IB 係要讀兩年的正規課程
AP 係在美國正規課程內的獨立的拔尖班
AP 是不能取代任何課程，包括 IB 和 HKDSE
要留意，AP 是要在學校內上的 AP 堂才有最大用途，因為大學會看學校內 AP 堂的分，而不是單單看你 AP 公開試的分
如果學校不是行美國課程，不是正式讀 AP 課，而只是自己去報考個別 AP 試，就要考慮是否值得
想個別報考公開試，可考慮 SAT II

我當年美國讀high school, 已經修AP math BC calculus , 同埋AP physics, 唔難等同香港中四程度，去到大學因為呢兩科AP, waive 左唔駛讀。係嗰邊考神級大學，你SAT滿分+n 咁多科AP唔代表你會入到嗰D學校，佢地要all round person

Not sure why you are comparing to MYP. Shouldn't AP be compared with IB DP?

mechanics.. my school in hk covered almost all HL syllabus during F4 its summer tutorial classes, talking about back to 90s, 20 yrs ago, AP course was not tat tough comparatively

請問，你仔讀 math 和 physics 是 sl 還是 hl？是不是 sat ii 要考的內容，都在學校學了，不用另外學？
