reference a small size SPI would be fine. Students could leave the books or material they don't need to bring back home for homework in their lockers or drawers.

Of course, you may need to train your kid be responsible to bring back all necessary material home.

Sometimes my son come home with empty school bag... of course he forgot to bring some necessary thing back .

School usually use the A4 plastic folder for every Friday's notice.
But due to the split class arrangement, some parents using the zippy bag (in F4 size for putting all subject book, notes, etc...) for each lesson to make it convenience on changing classroom. You may consider this as well when buying the school bag.
