小女現讀英中BAND 1理科, 成績中上, 現有寄宿學校收讀Lower 6, 可以應付嗎? 唔考gcsa 對入讀英國20大學有影響嗎?又或回港讀大學又可行嗎?

大學需有GCSE/iGCSE 成績,不大可能跳讀，除非有原因e.g. Exceptionally talented who is very bored at school.

英國大學也不是一定有 GCSE 才出 offer 的。有時也會只看 predicted A level grades or IB score，尤其是對海外學生。

我很同意你的講法,但只限於二,三流的英國大學! 一流英國大學注重全面發展,GCSE 成績是最能反影學生的能力。不信,請到 Cambridge/Oxford U check 一下。

劍橋的網址寫明除了醫及獸醫外，是沒有GCSE requirement 的 :

GCSE (or equivalent) are seen as performance indicators only, meaning they also accept other equivalent qualifications.

Thank you for your clarification. But the main point of discussuion in this forum is that skipping form 4 in Hong Kong has no equivalent qualification for GCSE/ performance indicator , which will result in very disadvantage position in applying Cambridge U !

Kids going to lower 6 will be taking AS exam at the end of lower 6 so they will have their AS results to present to Oxbridge at time of application. If they get all As in those, I'm sure Oxbridge will still look upon their applications favorably.

Nowadays, Oxbridge is more demanding for international students especially Chinese. One case is that a HK student failed Oxbridge although she got 4A* . The reason she claimed is she got grade B in GCSE Chinese out of her 10 A* GCSE subjects. The first thing she was asked was the imperfect score in Oxbridge interview. The best preparation for Oxbridge interview is to get perfect scores in GCSE and AS before you can have a chance to
be asked other questions. The basic requirement for Oxbridge admission is no use.
