My daughter is very lucky to get offer from the two universities via UCAS.  She has applied for LSE (Business Mathematics with Statistics) and Imperial College (Mathematics with Statistics for Finance).  We are striking which one should be chosen as firm offer and which should be insurance.  Could you please share your opinions?

There is not much difference between the two colleges because they are top 5 colleges in UK and both are elite program. The graduate employment prospect is good whether you are from LSE or IC.

It is a matter of personal choice. Congratulation on your brace.

My son is going to Imperial College London in this coming Sep too.  Because he has done all the application by himself, I am not sure if he may miss something. Do you mind to give some advices to me?
Will your daughter apply for the hall? Has she finished all the application procedure?

We apply via UCAS, using DSE results which is to be expected.  Hence, we are yet to finish all the procedures.  We are not sure which one we will study and hence not decide on the hall matter yet.
For the subject, as stated, we have applied for Business Mathematics with Statistics in LSE and Mathematics with Statistics for Finance in IC.  Anybody has got comments on these two courses?  Thank you.

Oxford law is ranked No.1 in UK (Guardian 2013) and No.2 (overall) in the world (Times 2012-13)!

The content of the two courses are somewhat different. The one at the LSE is a lot more statistical based (Dept of Statistics) and there are less variety of courses/subjects to choose from in comparison to IC (Dept of Mathematics). I studied Mathematics (Dept of Mathematics) at LSE many many years ago. I enjoyed the university life very much and the people I met there but not so much the degree itself. No complaints re the lecturers and tutors - I just found the degree too abstract. If your daughter likes Maths (Pure) more than Stats, then go for IC, which is better known for Maths than LSE.

I guess IC should be very outstanding in Pure Maths, LSE more outstanding in Maths for Business and Management Application. If its valid, I would say LSE is marginally better than IC.

For LSE, it's not a comprehensive university, it loses scores in certain areas. Anyway, it's a speciality university.

IC - they also have a very good business school (tanaka business school). Well done to your daughter! I would also be a little confused which university to choose because both are so good! I think regardless where she picks, she will have a good future :)

We are still struggling...........but with all these advice, we have better ideas.  My daughter inclines for the business side and she may choose lse........... Anyway, thank you very much!
