Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum and my first boy just turned one this month. My hubby and I moved to HK from Aust for his work preference couple years ago, and I just started doing research on playgroup & kindergarten (PN) in HK. Since our 1st language at home is Mandarin (my hubby’s from TW & I’m from SH originally), and we want our kid to have basic reading/writing skill in Chinese before we back to Aust eventually. Hence I’m targeting either international kinder with Eng/PTH class or Montessori school. And will go for the IS route for primary sch if we have not gone back home by then.

I quite like the philosophy and methodology of Montessori and paid a visit to the Little Montessori CWB location. Where the receptionist tried to sell us the home schooling set and pointed out clearly that no parents' class can be enrolled without purchasing, and there’s a long waiting list for the playgroup. We had a trial class of Montessori playgroup from Step by Step, and will start the 1.30 hr Sat morning class in next month. So it’s still too early to tell whether it fits my boy's personality, or if the class implement the Monte method right. I just enrolled the 8-hr Monte foundation parents prog by Infinity Children which will be held in 2 weeks’ time, and my son’s on waiting list for their observation class in May. However the controversial comments about ICS puzzled me even more.

There’s not much info of the Best Concept on their website as it is closed for maintenance. And the Bambino classes are more of a playgroup instead of kinder. Before I knew anything about Montessori we prefer the St. Catherine’s Harbour Place campus as it’s just walking distance from home with Eng/PTH PN class provided. But again it’s a very popular school and we do need to have some backup plans.

Would anyone pls give some ideas and suggestions for either the Montessori Sch/playgroup or Intl kinder (PN)according to our situation? Many thanks in advance!

可以理解如果被學校這樣對待，我也不會放心把自己的小朋友交給學校去教，畢竟言傳身教比書本知識更有潛移默化的功力！

不過他們電話通知我說4月觀察班上午班滿額，又不建議轉其下午班時倒是非常客氣。可能我還沒上他們的家長班課程，或是不同人接待的關係。都要觀察一下才知道，謝謝你的提醒！

因為當時我正在上playgroup..pn又開學了..所以沒有試..但聽了幾個朋友都說bc很不錯的!!!

我小朋友14個月左右上過兒童無限8堂觀察班，我初時以為都好像上Montessori課差不多去教導小朋友。
但老實他們沒太＂教導＂小朋友，主要只給孩子們自己玩。
唯一我認為可取是觀察小朋友後，老師會告訴家長可注意小朋友那方面。教導父母應怎樣做。當時因我小朋友未開始表達，加上是我第一名孩子，所以他們的觀察及意見也有可取之處。

但當上完8堂後，竟然說要waiting list去上正式班，到現在我小朋友23個月仍未收到電話通知。
知道要wait時，感覺時既然學校是沒位的，那又為什麼要上觀察班呢？
幼稚園都要有位才給大家Interview 罷，而且interview只需$30-$50而已。

因為我想給孩子讀Montessori 班，有朋友介紹由BC出去開Bambino的Ms Ellen給我(Ms Ellen在BC時已是出名好老師來的)。
於是我孩子便入了Bambino讀。她很喜歡上堂，很開心。老師很細心，知道父母初時會擔心子女獨立上堂情況，她們會致電告訴我孩子情況，亦有相片給我，讓我知上當小朋友做過什麼工作。
而且當孩子穩定獨立上課後，她們亦不介意家長主動致電問孩子情況。
唯一是校舍沒outdoor.
但我見孩子每天都開心上學，亦學了不少小手肌訓練、獨立、守跌序、語言等等，所以我很滿意。

謝謝這位媽媽的回覆與分享，我完全贊同你對兒童無限課程安排的意見！我剛寄出Bambino的入學申請to put my son on the waiting list，希望等我兒子滿14個月時就能有位入。剛開始找Montessori學校時也是被IC的師資（AMS recognition)和校園設施所吸引，還有他們先教育家長有關蒙特索利教學原理，和瞭解如何觀察子女言行的理念。對我這個新手媽媽來講十分迫切需要！不過如果最終都無位上課實施所認同的蒙氏教學法的話，確是虎頭蛇尾的approach! After all, a teacher with heart contributes much more value in a kid's growing path compares to well equipped school facilities.

Thx for ur suggestion, I put my son on waiting list already. But location wise it's a bit trouble to cross harbor for young kid if we can find gd one in KLN side.

我之前上過兩間嘅家長班
發現港島班嘅導師無幼兒証書，只有5+嘅証書，而九龍嗰間就兩個歲數都有

港島的家長班是指LM嗎，是有看到別的媽媽們有說他們的師資不穩定，一直換 :(

candylove111，剛剛查了你推薦的Montessori Korea website,
不過他們的雙語授課好像只有英、粵，沒有PTH是嗎？
如果我兒子去上課，說不定到時粵語說的比他父母還好 O(∩_∩)O~

好像他們有提供3小時蒙特梭利基礎家長教育課程，不知道你有沒有上過，有可取之處嗎？

hm88, thx for your recommendation. I checked the GEO EDU website and it is very impressive.

It's so true that the small class arrangement will be more beneficial to kids' development with qualified caring teachers. The only downside is the location at mid-level which is not easy to access for us as we live at KLN side. But I will definitely mark it down and keep my options open, maybe a wkend class session with family trip to the Peak is a bonus
