Syllabus of each class is shown in the website of hksmsa but only with the piece and book name. Better seek advice from teacher, they will know the standard. Difficulties of each class vary year from year. Normally syllabus will be launched late August-early September each year.

Just checked this year's syllabus. It's also exam pieces for erhu. Guess the music is easy to acquire? Maybe u can have a look and compare with the repertoire your son is playing at the moment.
