2008 not 2009? so kids have to finished 3 years kindergarten.

It will be using Bristish curriculum. Chinese will also be taught. My kid is in K.3 YMCA kindergarten in TST. I am going to put her in next September Y1/2.

班主任韓籍女老師，教科學，數學等，英文老師教英文，art,&drama等，普通話及体育老師請part-time.不過中文教簡易的中文，主要是遷就外籍學生的程度。我有點擔心學生的出路。請大家分享吓。另外，由於學校仍在翻新中，有些基礎的的設施仍未有，如圖書館都可能幾年後才有。

其實我都想送小朋友入去讀，八月尾係東涌個簡介會我都有去，課程國際化但收費只係五千好平，P1-2 無考試測驗只有少量功課，會讀得開心無壓力，但考慮到出路(吾保證正直但又教簡體字，出面直資，津校店收？國際學校學位更短缺及學費普遍過萬)，校長只有管理傳統名中學既經驗及學校軟硬件時，我便卻步，吾敢博。但YMCA 辦學一向好好，好有心，相信會越辨越好。

我意思就係有好似以上我所講既學校咁，得個講字，到時競爭大，收個出面勁既學生都吾收自己既小孩都吾奇及無情講，到時兩頭吾到岸就吾可以賴學校，呢個現象係HK 越來越普遍。

優先入讀係如在兩個人面試+成績相等既情況之下先有得優先入讀，直屬學校才是先收自己小學生。

Hi, do u apply Y1 for the coming Sep? So your kid was born in 2009? I just called ymca, the staff said my 2009 born son should apply now for the coming sep Y1. The age of their Y1 is 4yr 8mth.

The school campus, according to the information presented in the admission talk, was of San Wui Commercial Society. That's why the school is named SWCS Christian School.

my daughter was born in 2008, so looking for primary one at 2014 and 2015, so it seems like it is not a local private school.

But the staff of school asked me to apply now for the coming Sep Y1. My son was born in 2009. She said their Y1 is for 4 yrs 8 mth children. So your daughter should apply Y2.

Indeed. This is what I concern abt. After 6 yrs of non local education. Going bk to local secondary will not be easy for the child to adapt. Not sure if it is easy to get into IS secondary.

我囝囝是2007年出世,本來考國際,申請五間,五間都唔收,只可讀LOCAL SCHOOL,讀了三個月,因為囝囝一句中文都不懂,寫字就不需多說,但奇怪,囝囝雖然聽不懂,但每天都樂於返學,又無什麼是異常行為出現,但實在趕不上別人,加上每星期的默書,令我一家十分吃力,我深知,就算LOCAL SCHOOL 包容囝囝,他情況怎升班,他數學測試有六十分,扣了四十分,全是文字題,我又怕因此拖遲他的進度,我們決定轉校,我跟你們一樣,擔心SWCS不行IB, 又無什麼國際認可的TEST,中學又不知去向,到時左又不是右又不是,經過兩公婆和其他人的意見,不用想得太多,到時才算吧,可能他們會再舉辦中學! 都是六年後的事。

我去過香港出名的國際學校 " IN", 感覺跟這間好不同,我相信我的直覺,這家好有家的感覺,對每個小朋友都像自己的。其他我去過香港國際,漢基,英基,弘立,加拿大,蒙特等等。都像一間上市公司似的,你以為有$就入到,人家還有$過自己。

總結: 我只想囝囝的學習生活是用開心快樂去學習,其實在玩耍的同時都可學到嘢,本地學校要小朋友坐定,安靜,寫好字,默書,不準舛這樣及那樣, 事事都範范左小朋友的發展,每個小朋友都是一個個體,每一個都是獨一無二,怎可用一種教學的方法,巳過時了。

As I know, YMCA has secondary school. If I remember correctly, it is in Lantau Island. There used to be an advertisement in the YMCA seasonal booklet.

Yes they have. Primary Sch students have "priority" to get in according to the principle of the primary Sch, but wasnt discussed further in the briefing.

My daughter attended the interview last Saturday and got the email today telling us she was offered a place for Y1 next year. They made the decision within two days. It seemed that the competition was not that keen. Anyone got an offer too?

I didn't go to the interview as it was too rushed. They said they will include my son in the next interview. I am very interested in this school too as fees are more reasonable.

其實以我所了解，YMCA 既宗旨係有教無類。佢地幼稚園收生都不太 interview。所謂的 interview 都只不過係比小朋友見下老師、學校。 Ms Susan 講過就算小朋友入K1 時一句英文都唔識，佢地都會教到小朋友 fluent 英文。Ms Susan 話佢地既責任係 bring the best out of the child。我相信佢既小學都係抱著同一信念。

但這小學不是有教無類，要求小孩有一定程度既英文，八月尾我申請了，interview 後有位邿吾收，上個月再親自去聽個talk, 申請下年九月入學，見到校長聽到我小朋友讀中文學校就只係乎衍我兩句話放我小孩入waiting list ，話再通知我小孩再interview 先睇下點，但到而家咩消息都無，失望。PS, 小孩英文不是fluent ，但同同工人姐姐溝通無問題,去interview 同呢個校長講英文也OK, 可能係睇吾起我同先生太平民呢啦。幼稚園就好好，之前send E-mail 去申請插班竟然由校長親自reply 兼幫我問分校有無位，好nice，重邀請我去visit 參觀下。

Teachers and staff are nice. The school is new and the playgroung is big. However, the teaching tools and the setting in the classroom are too simple. As for the interview, only 1 teacher conducted the group interview. Parents waited outside and filled in a survey form. My daughter told me she played Lego, drew a picture and listened to story in the classroom.

yes its UK based cirriculum , up to now they hve only two books , one Chinese and one Maths , school fee is hkd5000 plus school bus hkd1600 ( I live in tung chung) , hkd25 per meal ordered from YMCA .. to me its nice as my boy really enjoy his school life .. they hve students from Japan , hong kong and some mix ...maybe its a new school and not much students , they are able to spend more time on each child ...

oh the Chinese teacher is native mandarin speaker , speaks English and mandarin and a bit Cantonese , she teaches Mandarin before ..not much Chinese ... but my boy can speak Mandarin more fluent now ...

BH0301 I've got an offer from school for my boy, I am still thinking if I should let him go.  I know that the school has only one class now and not sure how many classes they will have in next next, however, I see the school's playground is quite small and not sure if it is spacious for kids especially at junior primary stage; what about after school activities?
I joined their briefing in Nov and the teacher said they will arrange different after school activities periodically, is that right?  What did they arrange for kids?
In terms of learning, do you think your kids learn a lot after join that school? In terms of academic and self discipline or social skill… Do you think their English improve a lot?
Do you think teacher & principal there really love and care kids? You mentioned that there are diff nationality students, do you know if most of them are from Tung Chung? How long it takes to/return? I know school starts at 8:45am, what time it ends?

Sorry, I have many questions, hope you don't mind.  One last question, would you mind to tell if you kid born in 2007 or 2008?  Because the teacher said they accept youngest kids at 4yr8month… I am thinking if their Yr1 student has same age as other local school?  Or, actually, the school is like other international school which let kids start Y1 one year early than local school = that means international school's Y1 student is only local K3 kindergarten's student age… Please let me hear from you. My son born in 2007 , yes they do accept kids of year 1 at 2008.. they said is for those kids who will apply intl secondary school later ... yes most of the students are from Tung Chung (include my son ) my son got on the bus at 0755 and return home at 1600( school ends 1520) , they hve after school activities every Wed (now is soccer) and the principal said will arrange more different kind of activities if more students joined the school . My son mostly speaks English and on academic side , be honest you need to accept that they do not hve much or even no homework but i can feel the improvement on my son , more discipline , hve more general knowledge , able to write some short stories , love to read books and most importantly to me he said he loves and enjoy his school life ...

The teachers are good as maybe is small size class that they can spend more time with your child and u can tell from their parents teachers talk that they really know your child .I heard from the principal that they are going to renovate the building ,depends on what u are looking for , to me is a good school though it is new and now the school is small ...

BH0301Thanks so much for your advice, I am not expect many homework from school,actually, my son is now in an international school and have no homework too, we enjoy a lot, hehe,however, I want to find a school that has secondary school, that's why I considerthe YMCA but it is too new, so, not much information and no reference can referto… but it is good to meet you here, thanks a lot.

However, Iam not living close to school and school bus service not cover my home area aswell, so, I still thinking about the travel arrangement but I am sure we cansort it out.

BTW, is the primary school has Y1-Y6 like local school?

What about the YCMA secondary school in Tung Chung, as youare living in Tung Chung area, do you have any comment on this school or theirschool? I am quite concern school's 校風 (especially there is many foreigner students) Did the primaryschool principal mentioned anything about the path that their primary graduatestudents go to the YCMA secondary school in the future? The primary school hve y1-6 same as local school , the secondary school is quite good as most of the students i met in Tung Chung are ok.. we are also target on this secondary school ...though the principal did not promise anything on the through train to go into the secondary school .. but I hope at least we can hve some priority when we apply ...:)

I had been upset for the whole year for my son s application of primary school and i had been struggled also as he need to switch from the original school to this newly set up school and at the same time another international school confirmed him from waiting list ..and I am lucky as my son told me he likes this school, the teachers and the prinicpal ..and enjoy his school.life ....

I heard that the school will organize more school bus route in the new school year

Hope the information helps as we are mothers and we all want to provide the best to our children ...

BH0301 I am so lucky to met you here, thank you very much for you advice, yes, it is a very difficult choice to make, we like our current school but just can't see anything future plan, so, we really need to find something better; as you said, parents aimed to give the best for kids! YMCA小學真的不是一間國際學校，是國際與本地的cross over，有點似CKY，但YMCA小學的英文會很强，因YMCA從幼稚園開始已堅守英語，但現在是開荒牛的時期，要對YMCA和校長有信心才可以。
升中派位不計分,要考直資中學或YMCA中學，其他國際學校都可以。

My son attended the interview last Saturday and got the email today telling us she was offered a place for Y1 next year. I will accept this offer. My son born in Nov 2009.

shirleen, i think you dont know a lot of international school or private school. mostly, different school have their different teaching method. it depends on what kind of school the parents like. learn with activities is more difficult too. children also can learn through activities.

oic...silly me, haha! Good to see that you accepted the offer. My daughter has almost finished the interviews offered by other International schools. We're now waiting for the results. If there is no more offer, it's likely that she will attend this school.
