看見很多送小朋友往留學的cases大致分為兩類, 一是在香港成績不大好的,希望轉換環境後有好的發展, 另一種是在香港經已名列前茅, 瞄準英國名中學和oxbridge, 以求錦上添花, 另一方面亦爭取埋香港拔尖入U的機會。

小兒在香港讀緊一間數一數二的傳統名校, 成績中游, 如果唔失手, 在香港入U機會是有的, 今年考英國year 10, 亦獲一間100名內的boarding school 取錄。

以他的情況, 錦上添花的機會不大, 但又不至於讀唔上要走, 如果係你, 會唔會俾佢去?

就係唔知為乜?! 所以現在好矛盾 ...
首先係驚中四選科未能入到最叻那班, 讀到想選的科目,
其次係眼見好多DSE 失手和END UP WITH 副學士的個案, 實在怕怕!
小兒唔係咁適合讀IB, 考香港的DSE又好似好冒險, GSCE可能啱佢多D?!

但，如果你不是最勁，最差的 case ,
你要諗，咁樣個細路一出國，就起碼7-8個年頭，最重要的成長階段都不能在他身邊，真是唔想羅。

(唔知你經濟情況，是否可以多飛幾次，陪下佢。)

如果我系你，一定比佢去。because education is not only about getting a university degree it's also about character building of a child. Studying aboard is about demonstrating a willingness to be outside your comfort zone. To go somewhere absolutely foreign and do something completely unfamiliar. To go from the familiar comfort of Hong kong life to something grueling, bizarre or inspiring. To go from a place where everyone understands everything you say to one where you are forced to gradually learn a new language or ways of communication. To go from having an enormous support network of friends and family to being completely on your own (to begin with!). Rather than surrounding yourself with the same sort of people you've lived around for 15 years, you're meeting people who can shake your very worldview and give you a great deal of perspective.

十分認同adrjoc的見解，不要則重於學術，請給孩子一個機會。

我自己係香港讀就中上,如果考dse好辛苦,又要驚f4未必讀到想讀既科,放假又要溫書.入吾到大學就吾知點算.

但係我過左黎讀gcse,吾可以話hea 但係無溫到甘夜,有多d時間試好多野.有d野如果係香港讀根本無得玩. e.g. hockey,同埋外語.

我gcse 同AS 成績ok,但係有好多work experience同volunteering work, 所以都有幾間大學offer. 原本係香港讀既話港大中大入到機會率係40%都無,宜加有口酉 offer 重要ok低既offer黎既..

不過吾一定黎外國讀好,有d人自制能力同專住力弱既就言念言念先..
始終話過黎讀吾使溫書係口危你既.

I couldn't agree more. Studying aboard is not solely about academic.
