不是以比例去決定收幾多小學生
即是小學部學生質數好好, 全部達標和品行好, 是可以全部直升

33人 x 6 班 = 198人

會預留位比spb小學, 向外收約100人. 所以基本上全收小學部, 除非成績不達標.

去年小六Top tier 入面好似第一or第二果個去咗spcc, 其餘大部份都直上番去中學spc, 而今年中一全級十名內估計有一半來自小學, 質數好高!!

個人覺得SPB同RC兩間差唔多，冇得比較邊間勁啲？鐘意SPB就會話SPB,鐘意RC就又會話RC勁！其實兩間level一樣。各有各好。

中學部：直資vs.津貼

讀九小想博入 band 1 英中, 但 SPB 已是 band 1 英中. 如果目標是 DBS那類神級, 讀 SPB 6年後也可考插班.

One interesting background of SPC and her primary school, they are governed by a chapter of Laws of Hong Kong. Only few old schools enjoyed this funny privilege.  The chapter is St. Paul's College Council Incorporation Ordinance, Laws of Hong Kong Chapter 1102.  It does not mean the school is necessary good but the school is just old enough that in those days establishing a school was a bill of the legislative council. Well, it seems that the legislative body in the past did discuss thing more important than the current one.

Interview with PTH & English spelling?  Never heard of, and the Principal, Ms. Chan, has stated several times that she believes in education in mother tongue.  The main rationale that SPCPS Arithmetic classes are in Chinese. However, the school, by no means Ms. Chan herself, promised that after 6 years in SPCPS, boys should be able to communicate with PTH and English, but not necessary as good as native speakers.

They have PTH class right from the beginning P1 and starting from P3 Chinese lessons are conducted in PTH.  This was first introduced in my boy's year, he was the 2009 graduate  & most of his fellow boys did meet fair conversational PTH & English std.

Another boy in our family is in RC and the school also provides excellent schooling. Both schools' old boys are very supportive to their schools and this is important as well. I don't know whether KTS has that kind of old boys' support.  SPCPS is a better choice might only because of a new campus.

Is spb a Chinese school? I mean subject like Maths and General Studies use Chinese books and are taught in Chinese?

Yes, SPCPS is Chinese Primary by definition. Through the six years of primary, Mathematic is being taught in Chinese, while, General Studies is Chi/Eng in 70/30 ratio in P1 and ending up in 30/70 ratio in P6.

This arrangement is good and is very consistent with the sharing of Ms. Chan, the Principal, from time to time that she strongly believes that children in their primary should be best taught in their mother's tongue.

I am especially grateful to this arrangement as my boy went to a kindergarten, which was not and still is not strong in academic. When he first joined SPCPS, he could only spell one to ten and I don't think he stood any chance for those primary with interview requiring PTH and English. Having said that many of my boy's best mates were from strong academic background kindergartens.

Just share with fellow BK parents about teaching Mathematic, or should it be Arithmetic, in primary.

After the experience going through 6 years of maths lesson in SPCPS, I don't think teaching Maths in Eng is all that important. In SPCPS, the boy will get a big X even the answer is correct but the format is wrong. You might consider the school is too harsh to the students but there is good rationale behind. Elementary maths in arithmetic form is a language of its own, students must learn to respect the subject by understanding that steps and discipline are important. And learning one language through another language other than mother's tongue is not necessary a good thing. I trust the school can deliver good maths students just by looking at prizes won by their Maths Team.

However, if the boy came from an English speaking family than SPCPS might not be a good choice.

雖然聖保羅書院小學是一所中文小學, 但英文程度很高.
今年聖保羅書院中一英文科考獲全級第一的同學, 是來自聖保羅書院小學的.

KTS的升中的確很好，可以考慮！
