We apply the YCIS G4.The placement test will be held after several days.
Anyone know about the degree of difficulty ?
What we need to prepare?
And the maths test will use Chinese or English?

我女兒上年兩小時placement test 是考中、英及英數，中文不用作文，英文就要考想象力作一篇作文+閱讀理解，數學其中一部分考幾何圖形。做完paper之後會見中、外籍校長，中文面試以普通話對答。英文面試時校長會要小孩用英語朗讀一段passage,然後會問日常家庭生活的事。至於普通話就會考小孩的急才及為何選擇這校，如「校長室內有什麼東西你覺得最特別？」這類型的問題。

非常謝謝您的答復，對我們非常有用！你的女兒是插班幾年級？數學是用英文考還是中文考？我兒子的英文水準很一般，到時只能看他自己發揮了。

我女兒上年插班考Y4，數學是用英文考的，好好彩1st interview就收咗佢。我大仔考Y6就要考2次試才取錄。Y4應該不會太難入，不用太緊張。上年亞女話有個小朋友考Y2或Y3時，因未能完成份考試卷，所以當場喊了出來!我仔女話中英數，每份paper都好多頁，亞仔就因唔夠時間完成英作，就被安排2nd in. 你提醒你仔仔一定要快手呀！

Your son has to do faster when he is doing the test. My daughter said there were a lot of questions to do in the test. No division in Math test for year 4. The school will tell u the result after a week or u can call them and ask about the result directly.

No interview for parents is great. Thx a lot! I think YCIS learn half Chinese is better then the AIS.AIS a little Chinese only.In the English test Is there listening test just like listen to the CD?

Sorry for 'hijacking' this discussion thread. My daughter will have a placement test for G3 soon. We're from Canada. Her Chinese is pretty poor and I'm quite concerned about the Chinese test.
Jj100c or any parents with previous experience, would you please tell me a bit more about the Chinese test? Would the test be in traditional or simplified Chinese? What would be tested? Is it difficult? Would there be an interview in Mandarin? Thank you so much! Really appreciate your help!

Hi starrynite!
I'm not quite sure about the placement test for G3 students as my kids were taking G4 test b4 last year. The chinese test is written in traditional Chinese and u can answer in either traditional or simplified Chinese. The headmistress will interview your kids in mandarin. She normally asks something about your family. My daughter did the test last year and she said the Chinese test was so easy and there were short reading comprehension, pairing, multiple choice, fill in the blank (with the words )etc. Don't worry! The school will arrange CAL class to help the students who are not familiar with Chinese. The classmates of my kids from Thailand , Korea, France..., they are also in CAL class whChinese lesson

There is no listening test.
They will give your kid a passage to read aloud In the interview. I think they just want to test the pronunciation of the kids.
