原來英國私校有分精英班，由set 1 ~ set 4 或5，有無人知多D，請分享！

我識朋友的女兒學校year 10是分9 set, 頭4 set 可讀triple science, 尾5 set 唔俾year 11讀triple science而只好讀combined science.

還有year 10頭幾set比考GCSE, 尾個D year 11才能考GCSE, 不過友人的女兒十分叻，去年Year 10已取6科GCSE A star, 相信今年她的姓名會上學校2013年GCSE榜替香港學生爭光。

Year 10已經可考GCSE？比多D資料我。
阿仔現想讀的Year10學校話所有非英語為第一話語言嘅學生要讀ESL，再考一個叫IELTS，若英語通過測試合附標準，可讀GCSE English Langage，是這樣嗎？

Triple science = Physics, Chemistry, Biology 3科GCSE 科目

非Triple science award我就唔太清楚, 只知比triple science淺好多，一些排名高的學校係唔收combined science的學生讀中六理科。

很多英國的私校都比top set的學生中四甚至中三考GCSE, 好像報紙報導樂聲主席嘅女讀St Mary Calne前年取GCSE 13A star, 我相信她也不是year 11一次考13科, 有機會是分開考。

友人的女兒是year 9過英國讀，學校覺得她有能力便比她year 10考6科，結果全取A star, 今年year 11便考其餘科目。

我相信每間學校都會比學生考英文科目，IELTS是報大學用，不過我問過其中一間學校說IELTS的7.5分等同GCSE英文B級。

我個女全部科目都在top set, 但學校話規定要year 11,才準佢考GCSE o level, 請問可吾可以自己報考㗎？佢舊年自己係香港自修生考咗法文，a+咗，我都好擔心佢明年點樣一次考10科？仲要A+?

Triple science vs combined (double) science
My understanding is that you study all 3 subjects (physics, chemistry & biology) in both triple & combined science and you have to do exam papers in all 3.
For triple science, the standard will be higher and you will be awarded 3 GCSEs.
For combined science, the standard is lower and you will be awarded only 2 GCSEs.
Those who want to do science based subjects in A levels and university must take triple science as it is perceived that only those weak at science will take combined science.

咁如果學校無Triple Science，學生整体成績和入Top大學會底個其他學校！

I don't think double or triple makes a difference but I think the end result makes a difference.
