【本報訊】中學文憑試最高成績等級「5**」，在今年7月放榜前仍未有國際水平評級。考試及評核局昨公佈，英國大學及院校招生事務處（UCAS）確認，5**等級略高於英國高級程度考試（GCE A-level）最高等級A*，即也比本港原高考（A-level）略高。
UCAS在2010年就文憑試3、4、5及5*一共四個等級，評定換算分數，依次為40、80、120、130分，分別相對於英國高考E、C、A、A至A*水平，但只及本港原高考E至B水平，即5*級只是高考B級。當時未有評定5**換算分數，註明要留待首屆文憑試放榜後才評定。
民望肥佬教育局長謀沖喜

考評局昨公佈，UCAS完成評定5**換算分數，獲得145分，比英國高考A*的140分還高5分。由於本港原高考A級等同英國高考A*，因此文憑試5**水平略高於原高考A級。
UCAS換算分數制度獲得英國及世界其他大學認可，因此持本港文憑試若取得5**，成功獲世界級大學取錄大大提高。
教育局局長吳克儉之前擔任考評局主席時，主力推動國際認可文憑試。上任局長後劣評如潮的他，昨主動公佈UCAS對5**的評分，為民望低迷「沖喜」。

The % of students getting 5** is very very small. The reference for 5*, 5, 4 & 3 will be more important. Now, the reference of DSE to AL is:

5*= A to A*
5 = A
4 = C
3 = E

So the gap between 4 and 5 in DSE is very large... seems quite unfavourable for those who almost reach 5 but get a 4...

i prefer they grade using
12345678 or
ABCDEFGH

star star and star star star is very confusing

easier to fake the diploma grades too ?

Of course, HKEA insist the standard of 5** in DSE. Because they are exactly a commercial organization.(profit making)

Hard to say, despite the syllabus coverages of DSE are less than A-level on those science subjects.

In fact, we got A1/A2/A3 in old days' HK A-level.
I found those got A1 at A level's phy/chem/bio did already study a lot of the year 1 materials in their A-level. So they could be so easy and relax to get top results on some courses in year 1...

As the assessments were made after the DSE exam, it seems UCAS did review the papers of the A** students before their judge and it should be a fair review.

But this result may force the top students to study beyond the syllabus to get A**... a real pressure for them to finish 4 years F4,5,6,7 A-level materials of in the 3 years S4,5,6!!!

The coverage of DSE physics may not be less than HKAL Physics, but not as difficult as HKAL.
And HKAL <> GCE A-level

HKAL maybe the most difficult one in the world (for science and Maths, I don't know about art subjects).

此A不同彼A。HKAL的A事實上好難攞。
部份人對新舊及不同考試制度可能知d唔知d，肆意批評，無謂太在意。

在英國頭10%成績會攞A star, 頭20%成績會擺A , 頭60%成績即約40分會攞E.

我相信DSE都冇20%學生可以攞到5 star.
