小一"被"校選 <-- 心有同感, 好像找工作一樣. 不過不會覺得 pathetic

I felt pathetic for the system. Felt bad for those who didnt get any acceptance. Everything cant be judged from a short interview or the kids' background.

在香港，一定有書讀，點算得可悲？

問題係自己心頭高，唔係一線唔肯入。出去找私小直資，自由巿場，你㨂學校時學校也同樣有權㨂學生。

可以話無奈，但未至於可悲。

pathetic about the people borrowing address
pathetic about people squeezing in the alumni just to ensure their kids will be well remembered
pathetic about having to social with school principal or board directors
pathetic about the worst- changing religion or even "dual" religion.

all personal feeling for above- not meant to harm anyone who did the above

Can't agree more. In fact, its the same even if you are in other countries, e.g. US and UK. For public school, location counts. For good private school, long quene for the interview.

有也甘pathetic 呢？吾通你追個靚少少，多人追的女仔，又話pathetic？甘報份多人爭的工，又話pathetic？

爭就有贏輸，梗系吾系個個 happy ending, 但追求自己想要的東西，無問題呀。
怕被拒絕，咪大抽獎lor ，都好多好學校。

小一"被"校選 - this means that you have chosen a popular school. A matter of supply vs demand and you participate in this game by your free will.

其實你揀校時，學校當然揀你！我見好多都係大包圍，唔理咩直資/私校都去考左先，總之就鬥多offer係手！到學校取錄小朋友既時候，先去周圍問人間學校究竟係點架？人報我報，唔好蝕！其實一開始已知唔會去呢間學校讀，唔明點解要去考，搞到真係有d人想入讀該校既小朋友因為額滿而入唔到！(純粹個人感覺）

Agree. I had a few schools for back up only, knowingly the competition is so severe, and it wasnt a wrong decision. Only 2 offers received and will give up one very soon. Didnt go to lucky draw.

However we didnt do anything on the side to gain advantages trying to get into a certain school

The schools select you and after acceptance, it is your turn to pick and choose. What is wrong with this? Do you think everyone should be entitled to study where they want?

而家世界太twisted，好多“旁門左道”都比人用得太多，吾work啦！

你小朋友用真功夫而獲取錄，不是更令人高興嗎？釋懷啦！

Thats why the other thread was talking about reporting people who borrowed address. I knew people who changed religion just to suit the target school. Isnt this bad? I am happy about what i did and what i got. Just feel sorry for those kids who 被校選 and couldnt 選校，particularly when they want to study in the neighbourhood when they couldnt.
