小兒在報考海外大學時,老師給的predicted grade 如下:
中文:A Eng: A Math(Core): A* Math(M2): A*
LS :A Phy: A Chem: A Econ: A
他自我評估DSE約有以下成績:
中文:4-5 Eng: 5* Math(Core): 5*-5** Math(M2): 5-5*
LS :4-5* Phy: 5-5* Chem: 5-5* Econ: 4-5
他最想入HKU的精算,可能嗎?其他就不知如何選了。
請各位有經驗、有心得的家長們提供一些「進可攻、退可守」的意見,感激不盡!

Thank you for your information. It is very useful.
My boy is going to attend two interviews at Oxbridge, London next week. Any tips for that?

Great being invited by Oxbridge for interview, well done and good luck.
You mean Oxford or Cambridge, you can't apply both.
I guess the interviews for subject and college only.

According to my knowledge, traditionally Oxford would release the result before Christmas. Cambridge would release the result in the first 10 days in January.
Because of the result releasing date, Oxford would complete its interview by the end of November and Cambridge would complete its interview before or around 15 December. I guess that your interview should be with Cambridge.
Unless you apply for medicine, no interview is required by IC, KCL, QM or UCL. If you attend the medicine interview with Cambridge, it is quite challenging. You will have 2 separate interviews (each with 2 professors for half an hour). In the first interview, the applicants are asked about their high school study material and your response to hypothetical situation or your activities. In another interview, you will be asked a lot of medical science knowledge. It is the most difficult part of the interview because the questions asked are quite difficult to answer. Some of the answers require your detailed analysis of the situations.
If you are going to attend medicine interview, it is better for you to buy some books on "how to attend an interview for medicine". They list out more than 100 questions which you will be asked in the interview. Of course, the interviewer would not like some "stereotype" answers from the books, you will be embarrassed if you do not know how to answer them.
Good Luck.

Thanks for sharing.
Actually, the invitation was came from Oxford.
This year, Oxford released the invitations on 30th Nov. 2012, and my son received the email on 1st Dec in the early morning. We will set off next week and stay at Oxford for 4 days. He will spend two nights at the accommodation offered by the college while I will stay at the hotel which is very near to the college.
The college will send letters or emails to inform candidates of their decision by Mid Jan, 2013. Letters will be posted on 10th Jan. 2013, and emails will be sent on 11th Jan. 2013.
Sorry that my son doesn't want to expose the subject he applied. But I can say the subject requires good results on Mathematics and Physics.
Hope that he could perform to his best for the interview.

My son was interviewed by Cambridge professors in HK last week.
Will you consider he may need to do some Maths in front of the interviewers? My sn and his classmates need to do some Maths problems during the interview. Be prepare!

Thank you for your suggestion.
From Oxford's website, it mentions that the candidates would be asked to answer some mathematics & physics questions. Some of them might be quite difficult.
I just wonder why we have to travel to Oxford for interview but not like your son and his classmates, that can make it in Hong Kong.
Anyway, everything was booked. Very rush.

I know a student will have the Cambridge interview next week in the UK. Anyone knows why some interviews are in HK and some in the campus? Thanks

Some of my son's classmates need to travel to Cambridge for interview, based on the following reasons.
1. Request by specific college;
2. Some programs need interview in the campus.
Shotastar mentioned in another post or my blog about why Oxford requested candidates to be interviewed in UK. You can PM him for more details.
