Thanks for asking! My daughter is fortunate to adjust to the environment quite well. She has adapted to the role and position among her schoolmates. We think we had all made the best choice for her, and the preparation we had were appropriate for this transition.

But I guess it is suitable for parents considering preparation before P1 for the coming few months.

Basically it is always good to let the child establish a good habit of taking care of their own assignment. On one thing they can learn to be more independent which means less trouble to parents to chase them to do this and that.

Also, I guess many parents know I support a better balance between Chinese and English. I think it pays off as I realize the most difficult subject is never English, but Chinese. We had the first school test last month and I think we had prepared well. You never need to learn too diffcult words and such. All that is important is at least your child is willing to write Chinese characters. I think it is quite common that many kids prefer English over Chinese nowadays and this could mean trouble when they need to adopt to P1. It's because besides Chinese languages, general studies would involve many difficult new words that they need to learn.

我囡囡有20分但都入不到，我的朋友好驚訝！但其他女同學同樣有20分可以成功入到sfcc 和st. Stephen girls!

Actually it is not a surpirse to me as I expected this would happen last year already.

First of all, a child with 20 points getting a seat would never mean another child with 20 points can get in also.  Whenever the number of applicants with same points exceed the remaing seats available, then this require drawing.

So for example, what can happen is when there are 50 children with 20 points, and there are only 49 seats remain, then 1 child cannot be offered the seat.  This has no other implications except the fact that those with 15 points have no chances.

At the same time, when ther are 50 children with 20 points and there are only one seat left.  Then still, one child will be admitted with 20 points while other cannot.  So, with the small pool of samples that you are referring to, it doesn't really tell much of the story.  The only thing we know is 20 points has chances but not guarantee.

What I can see this year in the case of SHCS is there seems more people with 20 points are applying it this year.  This can be expected as we know many other Catholic girls schools all require drawing with 20 points so some of them are being attracted to apply this year and created the extra competiton this year.  On the other hand, I suspect the fact is nowadays, there just happen to be more Catholic families applying for schools for their children unfortunately.
