Thx. We also use Skype at home, but if either my kid or I is not covered by internet somehow, may be we need to use land line or mobile.That's why I want to subscribe IDD for back up. It is quite often that we cannot reach via Skype thro' smartphones, but computer at home.

It seems not all the IDD service providers cover services for "+447..." which is the first digits of my kid's UK vodafone (no land line in university college), others charge over $2 per min.

I heard that but not yet investigate. But as my phone sometimes is not covered by internet / having poor reception, I may use IDD when necessary. Any advice? Thanks.

而加年青人最愛用Whatsapp溝通，只要有網絡的地方就完全免費，又可以傳送影象和錄象，又唔使即時回應，可以諗清諗楚先，始終有些說話是寫出來容易過講出口。

我仔有張O2 Sim card都係7字頭，不過呢張卡佢只用來上網用，當然包括Whatsapp，另一張Lebera card用來打電話返香港，只收1p一分鐘，非常抵打！我地通常用Whatsapp連繫，有需要時就whatsapp佢用Lebera卡打電話比我地，我地唔會主動打電話比佢。

Actually we are using whatsapp and skype for communication over the past week (I returned from UK a week ago after helping him settling down). Both are good. However, although his college has free wifi, the reception is unstable. Mobile may have to use in some cases or outside the college. I will ask him to apply for a Lebera sim card later :)

It is very convenient to send voice message with "wechat". Other functions are similar to whatsapp.

in UK Use 3UK, you can install there apps in some Nokia phone, so that they can use mobile and call your skype without any charges.

1010, some mobile phone plan have covered +447. the plan provide 100mins free IDD which cover any call to uk mobile number.

Yes, we usually skype or go on web messenger on Facebook. I hardly call him. I have yet to try skype phone.

Em, I'm pretty sure that Lebara doesn't charge as cheap as 1p a minute. I think it is about 3-4p a minute. However if you use an O2 calling card, it charges 1p a minute to call hong kong. The only thing is that you will need to have an O2 sim so there is no extra charges, and also there are some numbers that you have to type in before you can actually make the call, so it's kinda annoying. I am studying in the UK and I'm using it.

Thank you. We usually use Skype (with video) as he gets Wi Fi in the college. But when he goes out, or in case its urgent with poor internet reception, we may need to use mobile phone.
