提議預科生應從中六開始，參觀每年各大學九月至十月期間舉行的Information day (開放日／資訊日) ，了解多個學科的性質及不同大學的文化，以便作出更明智的選擇。

建議先帶她看珠海，告訴她，如果她能在DSE8萬人中佔位剛中upper quartile 的話，就讀這裏；再帶她去科大，告訴她如果佔位top 8%的話有機會在這裏讀，再帶她去劍橋，說如果穏拿6個5**(< 1/1000, sigma level 5 )的話，傾盡家產，也會弄個學位給她在那裏讀。這是個白日夢，也是家長心態的寫實，見笑!

6個5**都未必入到劍仔，面試不簡單。香港約少於400人申請，收50-60人而已。

Around 15,000 to 16,000 students make applications to Cambridge or Oxford each year. They admit about 3,300 students. The odds of being admitted is about 20% depending on subjects. For the hot subjects such as medicine, law, economic or architecture, the admission rate ranges from 15% to 20%. For less "hot subject" such as natural science or arts subjects, the admission rate ranges from 20% to 30%.

Each year, Oxford or Cambridge would interview about 75% of the applicants. To apply for Cambridge, you need the principal or school counsel to write a very detailed report for you. Unless you have realistic chance of being interviewed, usually the school would not approve your application. On average, a school would only support a few students making applications to Oxford or Cambridge. Although I have no figures in hand, I believe that each year a particular school in Hong Kong would not have more than 10 students making applications to Oxford or Cambridge. --- you can only choose Oxford or Cambridge, but not both. If you are not in the top 20% of the class, I am worried that the school would not support your application -- that means you cannot file your application.

Cambridge and Oxford is very kind to the Hong Kong students. Each year, they admit about 10% international students. According to their figures, around 2% of spaces (around 60 to 65) goes to Hong Kong applicants.

Your info are excellent.
Just chatted with my son, he said 3*45, 1*44, 5*43, 1*42, 1*41 applied for Oxbridge from IB stream, so 12/45 students applied for that, three times more than last year. Most applied for Economics or PPE and Law, one for Medicine.

Yes, my son will compete with 2 classmates, their PG are 45...... May be more from SPCC.
