亞女小一, 下星期第一次英默, 有咩好方法教佢記得D字既串法呢???
今日教完, 好似幾熟; 明日問番, 又全部忘記得一乾二淨

每個詞語寫十次,邊寫邊串字,之後問吓佢。唔記得就再寫再串,要日日問架,真係好快忘記

拼音之餘,我有個温法,就係全部默一次,有錯的,重新温習,再全部默一次,重覆又重覆,真係熟到爛
小一至小三係咁樣温,到小四开始,佢已經會自己温好默書。

趁低年班仲可以用遊戲方式玩-word search, 即接龍,如apple-egg-gun-nurse-elephant-..............我個仔越玩越好,識別的字也越多。

Phonics is absolutely necessary to develop good spelling capability. In international schools, phonics is taught to children from K1 to Primary 3.
Unfortunately, in Hong Kong's local schools, not many English teachers know how to teach phonics since they do not know it themselves. My understanding is that in the HK Institute of Education, they do not train teachers in phonics.
Secondly, daily reading is also a must. Children learn to memorize the spelling better if they know how the words are being used in different context.

我既方法係同小朋友默完書之後,收返佢支鉛筆,比支紅筆佢,叫佢自己改,改完之後再叫小朋友寫返5-10次,格一陣再問佢。

我女女係記性唔錯的人, 同佢地串完默書係可以long lasting, 所以小一的英默好少機會有錯字, 最多扣大細草的分. 佢地曾學過phonics, 但到中段時我停左. 因發覺佢地係記得d字點串而唔係真係自己運用phonics. 所以學phonics都係因人而異. 不過我就運用phonics方法教佢地串字, 始終有phonics底, 真係會串得好快. 所以都建議學phonics.

I am facing a problem that pronunciation of some words are quite similar such as pack and peck

it's difficult to solve this kind of problem as some of the words in Chinese have similiar pronunciation as well. The only thing that can be done is to memorize it. Phonics is good for unseen dictation as the child has more chance to dictate the words correctly instead of leaving spaces but if the child only depends on phonics instead of memorization, he will have a chance to write a wrong word with same pronunciation even in a seen dictation. Thus, beware of that.

For words with similar pronunciation, I think the key is we adult need to pronunce the words accurately, and then use phonics to explain to the kid why there is a difference in the pronunciation. Then let the kid read out the word when he/she write it during dictation practice at home.

If your child knows phonics, you can train her to look at the mouth shape of speaker so as to distinguish words of similar sounds. Pack and peck would be easy to distinguish by mouth shape. This is the trick for elementary phonics learners. Students having advanced phonics skill level can actually hear the difference, and consider the context the word is used (of course the speaker has to pronounce them right).

Phonics一定要學,我個仔都係在一年班先學,上年四年班,基本上唔溫都合格,而我個女就由k1開始學,依家一年班,已識簡單拆字!預默100分!仲有最緊要找個識教拆字老師,如果唔係學哂音都冇用

yes i asked them to write 50-100 times....and read (when they are writing),,....phonics...ok (but not very useful - depends on the child)

and the few days later, dict for them again....and the day before dictation, ask them to write all the words out..... my kids has almost always 100%
