Same here! My son is studying in a British Curriculum school. I also wanna know what will happen If he switch to an IB school and/or goto the States for further study?

When the kids are in lower forms, the difference is not so much between British and American system. When they enter into the higher form, there is a great difference. American education is a liberal art education and its cornerstone is the options available to the kids to explore their interest and form their own curriculum. Of course, the kids need to study languages and basic maths. The English system would stress on depth of the subjects. The students take lesser subjects but the materials taught in a subject are quite substantive and extensive. If the kids know their interest in future, Britiish education system may suit them. It allows them to take law or medicine or other professional programme when they are in undergrad. In American system, most of the professional degrees are postgraduate course.
There is no right or wrong or which is a more superior system. Each system has its own strength and weakness. It depends on your personal choice on the education system your kids would like. Some like IB because of its training, Some like A-level because of the depth of the subjects which well prepare them in the undergraduate course (if he knows what he would like to do in undergrad. Some like US system because of the opportunity for them to explore their interest.
