阿仔識得十幾個讀名校中文攞2級都會到英國或澳洲讀U。

今年幾間名校DSE成績真令人失望！

如計成績，當然是中文。

從家長來看，失望當然是對校長無力駕馭班有經驗的中文老師好好教好學生中文，否則怎會有3至4成學生肥中文。

已決定送阿仔到英國,DSE成績ok!可以直接入讀Year1,比香港快1年畢業.

我個仔的香港舊同學未出DSE result 已有英國u(Exeter)收。
DSE佢拿大概23分,報hku and ust.又用新result報Durham. Durham comfirmed 收佢讀finance and econ. 佢好像決定去，可收減或快1年讀完。

今曰有結果,阿仔A1入到CityU,不過佢立志到英國升學,我都會全力支持!
DSE只要有3個5或以上(包括英文但不計中文及通識)就可直入英國大部份大學的Year1.

DSE is a fully recognised qualification for admission to UK colleges and univs. You may check the equivalent points of DSE score from the UCAS Tariff table of UCAS's website.

When DSE was introduced, HKEAA said that the number of "5" including the two further subdivision of 5* and 5** should be around 10%. If you compare 10% to the percentage of "A and A* " of A-level (which is between 25% to 35%), the "5" or above in DSE is still a reliable indication of the candidate's ability of handling the college work.

上月同阿仔係琥珀教肓展即場面試了4間排名15至30的大學,4間都話收佢,我睇完Ｄ資料,原來DSE考到5至5**各大學都承認等如A-Level的A,而各大學(排名10以內的名校另計)的最高入學要求只是AAA,某些學科只需ABB就得,不過要考IELTS試先,一般各大學要求IELTS平均要達到6.5,阿仔話唔係好難!

請問，如等到明年DSE成績出左後，再去報讀英國大學，會否太遲？

還是，現在報定先？不過DXX海外教育展已過晒期。

It is not too late. UCAS just accepts application for the 2013/14 entry. You need not wait until the release of the HKDSE result. I will be too late for you to obtain an offer from top colleges.The registration period is from now to 15 January 2013.

友人話，如果想入top U, 最好花一年去讀預科。

或者，幫阿仔報左UCAS先。出在HKDSE成績，又睇邊間U收先算。
如果間U唔理想，就去讀多年預科。

No, you will know the results of your UCAS applications by the end of March. At that times, your son has not yet taken the HKDSE exam. I suppose that the colleges you apply for are those you intend to settle if they give you an admission offer. If you meet the conditions upon the release of your DSE results, there is no need to spend one more year on Form 6 or 7.

DSE成績出左後會有很多有大學代表在現場的教育展，他們會即場接受考生面試，成績達標的會即場被取錄，但由於有關手續並未經UCAS，應多考幾間再作選擇，以我兒今年的經驗並不會太遲。

If your son want to be admitted to top university, you need to apply through UCAS as the top top tier universities only admit student through UCAS by the deadline (mid Oct for Oxbridge and mid Jan for the rest), and not even in the "clearance" round. After the application, you will get the result (whether conditional offers granted) by March latest and as early as before X'mas, then you can sit back and wait for the DSE result to see if the conditional offers met.

If you wait after the DSE result, the choice of universities and subjects may be limited.
