how old is your son?
my girl also want to take course at ABC, however, hard to open a new class?
my girl is Nursery and will be KI on Sep.

My child attended their classes since late-April when he was just 3 years old.

At all time, all family members communicate with him in cantonese.  He however likes learning some vocabularies so I let him try to expose to English at this school for fun.

At the beginning, he could only listen what the teacher said but replied in Cantonese.  To our surprise, he likes the school very much and caught up quickly.  After about three months, now he can communicate with the teachers in simple English and no Cantonese.  Sometimes, when at home, he would introduce to me something in English, e.g. this is a .... (e.g. train); I have an idea... Let’s begin … sorry I'm late etc. or he would asked me what is the English name of something… , particularly when we are having our dinner.. .”xx 英文係咩?” On one occasion, he asked me for the English name of 蜜棗 which I did not know at the moment, he continued to say… I like to eat蜜棗 (he knew the structure of a sentence, it surprised us)

Of course, we continue communicating with him mainly in Cantonese as we want him to develop his general knowledge with his mother tongue.  But having said so, his acceptance of English via this school is out of our expectation.

I am genuinely a mom of a student and this is a little sharing.  Hope your child can find a suitable place for learning English with fun.

I have called ABC Pathway (Laguna City). The lady told me it took 40 lessons to complete a level. It costs $375 x 40 to complete one level, and there are five levels in Pre-starter. Does it mean I need to spend $375 x 40 x 3 (my kid is studying K2 and I assume she is at level 3.) to get a Pre-starter qualification and it gonna takes her three years to complete it? Will it be a bit expensive and lengthy?

acutally they will periodically secretly do assessment in the lessons and if you can meet higher levels you can jump to higher levels and so many can do in normally at K3 for starters.

my son is 3, joined for a month for Cambridge course, the staff says there is no homework and I never ask him what has been taught as my son never tells even in school or playgroups but from teachers I know he is doing well. When I first join it, I asked those mums with kids studied up to P1 and they told me their kids really get improvement in English.

Can't expect the English will improve suddenly, its aim is to give time to kids to slowly build up their base. But yes, really expensive, as I am at Kln Tong Branch $1680/mth is really expensive, and need to study up to K3, and also not counting th phoneic, RWI.

dono about tsuen wan, ok for kln tong but course fee is higher and need referral for studying here

It is 40 hours in one level and 1.5 hr per lesson, i.e. about 6 months to complete a single level.  Nevertheless, as said by some other mothers here, the teachers would periodical assess the child's progress and if he/she can achieve a higher level, they would suggest your child to advance to the next level, they concern the ability of the child, not the age.  So you may first try the assessment and seek their advice of which level should your child attend.  (It was explained in detailed when I attended their free talk)

By the way, there will be a free introductory talk at Lam Tim centre in Aug (forget the dates) and there will be a "免費試堂" so you may attend and let your child to play there.

My experience was that, both my husband and I attended the talk at North Point centre in Mar this year and let my child play in their trial class.  After about 1.5 hour, we met our child and he said it was fun.  In fact during the trial class, the teacher assessed all children attended and would later called individual parents.  A few days later, they called me and told me that my child (2 weeks before his 3rd birthday) was suitable to try mid-level 1 (不用由第一堂開始, 可以插班) as his was...(some observations in quite detail which I don't say here la).  Of course, it was up to me to enrol for my boy or not.  Eventually we decided to let him try a month as the timing is ok to his schedule.  It comes out with the things I shared above (see reply #3) ^_^.

Worth trying , 唔買睇吓, 了解多點都好.

我前兩個星期有聽簡介會, 負責人講既學校理念, 目的等等....其實聽落幾好, 但問題系, 講得好好, 但聽完又要再約過時間做assessment, 做完又話要比head teacher 改先知編系邊班, 又要夠人先開班!甘既安排又似乎有點問題,centre既老師無得幫assessment比分由head teacher做, 好似好認真, 但我又覺得甘其他老師系咪唔夠資格呢? 又唔系個個媽咪系全職媽咪, 聽完簡介又要約weekday做assessment,做完又話要等幾日再通知...,又唔知開唔開到班, 我系想小朋友黎學野, 但比我感覺系佢地黎揀學生囉!

*呢個純粹系我個人感覺, 如有得罪或見解不同, 請見諒!
