For curiosity, what's the objective of tuition for IB?

Low student staff ratio, you can ask teacher easily during or after the class. You can pick different levels to fit your standards, not like HKDSE, take it or leave it except Maths.
Not so exam driven like local curriculum.

大家唔好浪费时间, 读IB的孩子已经非常忙碌, 读书必然要靠自己, 有困难可以请教学校内的IB老师, 因此没有必要和没空补习了. 再者孩子们已经十六七岁以上, 应该有能力知道如何向外求助呢, 不是小学生, 还需父母四围找补习中心的. 是有点儿差劲吧! 我们不要羊群心态, 人补我又送孩子往补习, 最终徒劳无益的

If the student has difficulty in coping with IB DP, it may be too late already as the crux of success in IB DP exam is language ability and critical thinking (not by memorisation of model answers) which a student cannot improve in a short time and by attending tutorial centre. It may be better for him/her to look for alternatives, like foundation year, etc. I suspect many parents here are those with children studying PYP or MYP and look for 'IB' tutorial centre. In fact, IB students learn by finding the answer themselves (with some guidance) rather than being told. They learn more from their mistakes than 'correct answers' given and by teaching (or presenting to, as the case maybe) others rather than being taught/told. Different answers can sometimes all be 'correct' subject to reasonable arguments.

绝大部分IS或直资的IB课程是在高中最后的两年才开始的, 作为一位用心留意孩子的父母或是学校的师长, 应该早就看出孩子的能力, 不会等到最后两年的IB课程才发现有困难唔知點算的, 有困难必需在初中或middle school正视之, 等到高中已经太迟, 补唔补的分别可能不大了, 还有这类孩子最后才冲刺,需要的是名师中的超级名师, (可遇不可求, 随时是学校的IB 老师才是高手)，当然父母希望安心点大可让孩子往外补习. 想得到的是多补两小时chemistry,(加来回１.5 hrs), 又少读了history , 时间分配是不容易平衡呢！

认识一些努力的ＩＢ孩子，　他们最有效益的学习方法是同学间互相取经，　数学弱的找数学叻的偷师，　英文水平高的又教同学仔如何看待文章重点，总之是教学相长吧！

父母的忧虑是因为关怀孩子，我们天天希望孩子有良好的思维分析能力，　更加要当位重视高效益的父母，　有钱都唔好随便浪费．

同意，同學間互相幫助是最好，功課都做唔切，瞓都未夠瞓，補習正如妳所說，得不償失。

今年初春开始隔天信箱便收到各大IGCSE, IB, SAT, 的补习社的速销广告单张,起初怀疑他们何以神通广大的知道我家有学生, 后来想通了. 他们是渔翁撒网, 老师看来粒粒皆星, 现实是边有甘多星, 最少读一个course, 闲闲地要交一万元以上. 真的好好揾. 我们在此继续多口几句, 怕者会被人点相. 还是要小心为上策....

話時話，IBDP同香港以前A level比較，邊個試的範圍浩瀚一點呢?

如果以我個仔為例，keep住廣泛閱讀、磨利支筆之外，還有什麼可做準備?

To be fair, if your kid is of the quality of 38+, there is no need to obtain private tuition. However, 70% of the IB students are not of that quality, that is why many parents want to improve their scores on their kid's weak subjects. I fully understand why they want to arrange private tuition for their kids. Anyway, personally I do not think it is necessary to arrange private tuition because the kids should approach their IB teachers and contemporaries for assistance. That is a way to have themselves trained in preparation for the college life and future career.

好老师难求, 收费高亦是对老师尊重的表现. 付不起是我的问题.  经验是通常很有心的好老师收费也是很合理的

当老师真的要有高尚情操, 是对人的心灵教育.  小女的中文老师很出色, 收费也很便宜, 奈何是常见参加学习班的家长只求快速的效果, 而未见给予孩子适应时间和合理的鼓励, 大部分半途而废了, 很可惜! 有些更是对老师诸多批评, 把孩子的不良学习态度归咎于老师的能力, 或是班内能力较弱的同学. 拖低了她的孩子.  现在老师工作太忙, 不教中文班了, 我只有央求老师帮小女私补, 收费是自己提出的, 真的是很高, 朋友叫我唔好做坏规矩, 我说因为很想给优秀老师多一点尊重.  试想有责任感的补习老师必定为孩子挑选合适教材, 每星期花费时间也要半小时吧, 车程来回花1.25小时. 其实收入不算高.  老师很喜爱小女, 帮她多一两年, 最终还是坚持原来的收费.

认识几位很有学问的朋友, 年纪大了, 其实好钟爱教细路, 系甘收少少都无问题, 当回报社会, 但最怕D细路无心学, D父母有唔合作, 法文未学好就改左去学德文, 你话当老师的会有多心淡  .

Anchan, 你应该当正自己是名校, 铁价不二, 然后派申请表, 父母孩子要interview, 过五关,有才华, 有诚心才收, 收番两三个学生来调教下.  看清楚自己的potential ,常理是名校生必期望高, 如果进不了名牌, 你个招牌可能不保, 可能是有钱都唔敢赞. 不如去多D travel, 乐得快活.

可惜是家长唔多识货, 你收平以为你无料到, 你收贵佢又唔明白甚么叫'物超所值', 其实我很鼓吹有能力的老师收费高,可以省却不少麻烦有贪多的家长, 尊严真的很重要, 情愿见孩子用心向学, 自动加班, 不另收费.

讲左甘耐, 究竟有无Maths 强老师介绍, 等埋令郎考完IB都得,..........

Yes, I only provided private tuition for my son years back.
My son have a long waiting list for Maths, Economics and Chemistry tuition.
