兩間QUALITY差好遠, 我妹在ST MARY'S 讀中學, 佢同學會考26分都入唔番原校~!
相反MARYMOUNT 中六就好鍾意收番D ST MARY'S升唔到原校0既學生,
佢好似有同學13分會考都入到MARYMOUNT中六..

唔好信埋D阿邊個同學識得阿邊個同學再加“好似有個同學”講既嘢！Believe in the data released by schools,it will not lie.再者好似DBS和Marymount這些出國率奇高既學校,你比較佢地既中六和AL係冇乜意思既。
升中派位那邊有家長做了一個20l0既會考比較表,actually, marymount既6科十四分超過90%,比st mary還要高！30%人考獲英文最高級的5星, 英文優良率係96%。
其實攞5-6條A嗰D,自理能力和考試技巧很高,已經唔關學校事,去邊到讀都會攞幾條A㗎嘞！睇平均成績啦。

仲有你要睇埋學校重視文科or理科,如你考通過HKCEE,只要勤操卷,Math, A Math, Physic
and chem拿A係不難的。文科和理科既A含金量係不同的。我諗培正拿A數量可能多過DBS,但以前不用交學费既年代,你問十個父母,有幾多會選培正而扑捨DBS？

我有幸請過幾個會考理科4-5A既下屬,佢地寫嘢同講嘢都係唔得的！

兩間辦學團體我都很欣賞,但風格有異。

兩間學校既家長都極不同,Marymount既家長在EK極不活躍,問既都是一些未入讀既家長。

In fact, the info. for the ranking of Marymount colleage (secondary school) is esaily sourced online openly and I am just telling the data i saw. Of course, whether the data is accurate depends. About the Primary school, I don't have solid information and i did not give comment previously.

出來做事之後發覺很多跨國既科技公司CEO都唔係讀理科的,多數既歐美總統都係讀文史的,更加覺得我地嗰代既學校太短視和計算,因為易攞A,好既學生就鼓勵去讀理科。這些錯既DNA一直冇改,請大學校長一樣揾D歐美科學家。你看看牛津,哈佛,耶魯,劍橋和普林斯頓既曆任校長,你就知道香港仍然係一個發展中既地區。

如果依家要請一個management trainee,以舊會考成績,一個中英文A*,地理,histy, econ 攞C；一個中英文C, A Math, Math,Phy,Chem攞4個A, 我諗都唔駛諗就……

我諗你要理解這些所謂排名,其中一個用拔尖人數排名,你覺得DBS和Marymount既尖子會去咗港大中大多吖 or 去咗Oxford, Harvard, Yale, Princeton,Stanford, Cambridge and 李寶樁多吖, 這些data睇唔睇到？

所以有D家長仲用人均優良率去rank學校,跟本同現實脱了節。最近牛津的入學主任説HK很多高分尖子面試失敗,死因多數係好快就找到答案,但叫佢解釋吓就依依哦哦！

我係DBS old boy, 兩個小朋友讀國際學校既。我地係九龍大,其實對港島區學校不太熟悉,以前inter-school比赛有印象Marymount既女仔英文好叻,又吹得,St Mary 就冇乜遇到過。我依家係pro La Salle, con DBS的。我反對傳统名校轉直資的。私校直資應該讓D新學校去做。我支持林超英的。
其實冇話pro Marymount or st Mary,睇吓家長要D乜？你想田徑叻就唔好送個仔去游泳學校
；想游水叻就唔好送佢去田徑學校。
只係睇到D人誤聽途説,認唔住,多口啫。

Lawsonmoon, thanks. We also consider int'l school but seem too expensive for two kids so drop the idea. In u case, why not send kids to local traditional schools.

HK的國際校真係好貴,但遲D大少少可能送佢地返美國讀中學,免費的。叫做拉上補下,拉後補前吧！因為未必長期在HK做嘢,所以仔女讀國際校會flexible D。
其實睇自己需要,我太太台灣人,我們在家用廣東話加國語,所以仔女到國際學校學英文。我有個西人partner太太HK人,在家用英文,他把仔女送主流學校,話學中文。

Marymount for sure if your girl can get up, unless that you want your girl to be much academic-oriented and localised. Marymount girls are much prestigious and confident

lawsonmoon, thanks for your sharing. As we don't have foreign passports, we do prefer to spend $$ later for university education... but want to make sure the english level is up to standard and can catch up the overseas study. So, we do prefer english medium instruction of school. Unfortunately, there are very few choices in Hong Kong other than DG, Maryknoll etc.

You may consider to help your girl to St. Paul's Convent. SPC is a truly EMI school too! Less homework and happy study mood! Girls are outspoken and presentable too! However, is a private school which you need to pay school fees. Still it is cheaper than International schools and DGS.

For SPC, those places are generally reserved for its feeder kg/nursery. So, outsiders can't get into SPC easily.

有PASSPORT都唔係一定有用。

好似英國咁，本地人D學費一D都唔平。我都諗住中學左右番英國，但條數都好襟計！（因為果邊，公立既好少有質素好既！）

那就看你肯不肯犠牲你的生活了。我公司有個同事同你的planning 一樣,兩公婆工作,只是中五畢業,请姐姐用菲庸,回家看英文電視,小朋友只可看英文卡通。女女讀中小津校,每星期一堂外籍老師私補0ral,不是學grammer那種,大约千一二元一個月。Her daughter can speak fluent eng and communicate with my kids in eng very well!盡量俾機會佢講英文,菲庸都冇問題。唔好學一般香港人成日笑singaporean and malaysian講英文有口音,外國人覺得有口音係好正常的。In fact,英國有個調查,亞洲學生中,馬來西亞人既英文水準最高。
Give u two more examples:
霍金不能發聲,他選電腦人造發聲時選了有北歐口音的英文發聲,他説英國人一般覺得講英文有口音既人好cute喎！

陶傑也講過一個笑話,一個中國人在英國酒會講得一口英國貴族口音既英文,有英國人講笑咁讚佢英文講得仲好過他,其實骨子裏係笑緊佢鶧䳇學舌,明明係外國人,做乜要扮英國人口音講嘢！

I agree with you totally.. just dont understand why HK people just like to tease at others.. as for me, I am a Malaysian.. I speak english.. they think we sound funny.. plus I study at UK as well. plus my hubby is from UK.. so my accent will twing between UK and M'sia accent.. hahaha.. so depending who I talk to..

truthmr99, you may want to consider SPC for P1.. they do take in outsider each year.. write to them to get an interview if you really like the school.

I would pick SPC for my girl as she will be more happy there after learning SPC is more relax with less homework school. Girls are confident there too.

I have never come across people commenting on Marymount saying that she is not as good as others. I only heard from many friends complaining that Marymount is pretty hard to get in and the girls are quite prestigious.
