Self-study is fine, easier than HKCEE. F4 is the best timing.

Yes, as Yanamama said through non-JUPAS. Also, need many A's.
In local universities, they saw so many failure cases with flying color results from IGCSE.

Forget IB la..... over is over.
IGCSE more related to HKCEE, for university admission, GCE AS and or AL are more relevant to university admission, you can consider that instead of IGCSE.

Also, she needs to focus on HKDSE as primary and then others, don't mess up my friend.

All local universities normally require GCE AS/AL, not IGCSE. Some require both GCE AL and IGCSE. Nevertheless, for 4-yrs programme, GCE AL and IB applicants may be considered for credit transfers through the arrangement of "Admission with Advanced Standing". HKDSE applicants have no such advantage.

Why IGCSE? I guess......

1. Before HKDSE, students can use IGCSE results to apply for non-JUPAS EAS scheme;

2. They can use the results to apply good high school in UK and then GCE AL, then university admission; and

3. Speed up the teaching progress in F4 and then focus more on HKDSE subjects.

有些本地大學要GCE AL和IGCSE,正如她們要計HKAL和HKCEE成績。至於只計AL的大學,亦要有IGCSE的語文科目去達到入學的語文要求。最重要係報名時未有GCE AL成績,要靠GCE AS和IGCSE的成績去取得conditional offer。

英國普通教育文憑 GCE AS/A2 暑期課程是一個專為準備考取英國普通教育文憑 GCE AS/A2 Level  的高中學生而設的暑期課程。擁有國際認可的 GCE AS 學歷可升讀美加大學或社區學院(四年制大學的第一年)。

另外，考取英國 GCE A-level (英國高級程度文憑) 更可直接進入本地及海外理想的大學 (三年制的第一年)。完成暑期課程後，學生可繼續修讀週末兼讀制的 GCE AS/A2  課程，準備考取 GCE AS/A2 level 文憑。

English A & B are First Language English & ESL is English as Second Language.
English B has more Literature elements.

因為英文成績唔好,老師建議考IGCSE英文科,

Normally, teachers will not ask a student who has been studying in UK for 5 rs to take ESL. So, I believe he is telling your kid to take IGCSE English (1st lang.)

睇d資料睇到我暈暈地. 都係問下各位高人意見.
小女今年升中4, 在本地EMI地學校. 我係咪可以比佢考IGCSE, 如果中五成績不夠理想時就到英國讀一年高中, 再考大學. 如果中五好的話, 我會要佢在香港考DSE後再決定去向.
