Any parents who have got kids applying to or studying in Oxford U or Cambridge U? Not that mine is applying. It's just that I have got a few questions I want to ask. Thanks!

Sorry, deardear, as my kid is a local school student, he used predicted grades of HKDSE exam for application. He has not taken IGCSE before.

My daughter did apply to Cambridge (11/12) to study medicine but she was unsuccessful. She was invited to attend an interview in Cambridge, not in Hong Kong. However, it was a very good experience for her and she was successful in obtaining 2 offers from other colleges to study medicine in Sept 2012.

Supposed with 3A IGCSE A level results, what other U in UK other than oxbridge and London U are more famous and their elite subjects such as law, architect，engineering, pharmacy, etc.

From the league tables，4A is equ. to 480 marks。 That means that my son should take 5 A level subjects instead of 4 A Level subjects in order to get admitted to top 10 U whereas the entry standard is around 500 marks。

Am I right?

You should check the UCAS table yourself because ICGSE subjects and other qualifications may also be awarded points for calculation of the UCAS parts as mentioned in the league table:

Many thx for your information but I don't understand how the other qualification works in the calculation of the UCAS.

Supposing my son has 4 A Level subject results and two Grade 8 distinction results in music examination. Does this mean that he obtains extra 150 tariff points plus the 4 A Level result marks?

Actually, I have no knowlege on how to apply for UK University.

I think obtaining 4 As in 4 different A Level subjects is quite outstanding but the 4 A results only add to 480 marks which is insufficient for admission to top ten U in UK from the information of league table.
