4 unconditional offers out of 11 from HKU, not bad as a new IB school.
I would like to know the programs and the description of "unconditional offers". I guess may be Education, Engineering and Science.

I believe unconditional offers are for less competitive programmes. My friend's daughter also got unconditional offer. She applied 幼兒 教育. My other friend's son got very low conditional offer of 34 for Earth Science but when he applied MBB in CU he was not granted a chance for interview.

Around 120-130 students each grade. 50% = 60-65. 11/65 = 17%

From my understanding in MBBS, students got both offers from CUHK & HKU are conditional even PG = 42/42.

CUHK MBBS ? 42/42 ? No kidding me. I heard the lowest grades of public exams of successful applicants 2 years ago, I swore that I would never visit those doctors graduated from 2010 !

PG 42/42, the conditional offer of HKU is 41+/45 for MBBS.
For CUHK, the offers are lower than HKU this year.

I am not trying to be picky, but the announcement mentioned that only 41 students have received offers, i.e. 41 out of 60/65. What happens to the ones who do not have offers yet? Are they waiting for Us in the US?

According to the above, it seems not consistent with your discription. Is it the case, the entrance barrier for non-jupas is far more higher than jupas?

I have no intention to insult CU Med students. In fact, I have no idea on their best students but I know much about their worst group. I trust my information source and never doubt about it. Anyway, the original thread is to discuss CSS, not CUHK. Should my comments cause bad feelings to anyone, I take my words back and apologize.

I attended CSS information day last year. The principle, Mr. Cheung, is very nice and explained everything in details. Unfortunately, my focus was on IB stream and forgot almost everything about another half. Mr.Cheung was frank with all parents and warned us that only 50% of students could admit IB diploma. This is mandated by EDB. I also want to understand how a MYP student can get back to local stream ?????

oh sorry, don't get me wrong, I just wanna have a clearer picture about the Jupas entrance requirement of both Us. It's very essential for planning our application strategy. For me, your sharing is highly appreciated.

Not every student may eventually stick to IB. According to their site, IB seats are still available which somehow indicates there is less than 50% students go for IB. I guess some may go for DSE for various reasons; such as, not plan to study aboard, comparatively expensive, hesitate about the non-jupas -> HK's U.......... Some of these "reasons' may not even valid, it's just out of imperfect information.
In my son's school (another new IB school in the same district), the rate for IB is far less than my expectation either.

From your questions, you know little about IB, your questions mixed with CSS specific or general issues.

我想知揀IB的家長是想仔女去外國讀還是在本港讀大學? (Both are eligible, only some IB approach schools emphasis IB only good for overseas, that's not true. You can refer to DBS's website.)
揀IB是為了避開不知所為的DSE? (Yes, and no. Refer to my blogs.)
揀IB是為了能讀到一些著名的學位課程
(overseas or local)? (Yes and no. Ivy League may provide firm offers based upon SAT, personal statement, essay and interview, no need for HKDSE, IBDP or GCE...... In HK, yes to certain extent.)
若只是想讀到本港大學, 有須要揀IB嗎? (If you take IB because of the excellent curriculum, your kid really benefit from the program for life learning; but IBDP only an exam results with proven track record like HKALE, GCEALE. Just for local Us, you can go for IGCSE, GCE....... Pls differentiate the difference in curriculum and or examination.)
以啟中為例, 好成績才能讀IB; 若HKU 俾unconditional offer 是一些閒科, d家長會接受嗎? (You can also refer to DBS's offer portfolio. Different parents have different expectation, some just want any seat in any U's, some expect "hot" seats in Big3...... You need to do homework on IB schools in HK, too much hearsay around.)
會否讀啟中 DSE 的學生遲些也考到HKU, 讀d科目還好過unconditional offer ? (Speculative question, no comment.)
