Does anyone have the experience of changing to Yew Chung secondary from ESF primary?How was the experience? Academically and all round development wise?

Have been thinking about Yew Chung because of its Christian value and music development.

I wouldn't do that if I could stay at esf.

Academically, YC's IBDP results are slightly better than that of ESF (around 34 vs around 33). However, the gap is bigger than it appears. It should be noted that about 25% of ESF students take BTEC (a vocational programme) and get ESF Diploma (an in-house qualification) instead of IBDP. The ESF average IBDP score of 33 is achieved by excluding the bottom 25% of the ESF students. If those students had taken the IBDP exam as well, the average ESF score would have appeared much less impressive. In this respect, I would have thought that, academically, YC, RC, Victoria and KCIS are doing better than ESF.

Which ESF school is your child in now? And which year?

I am just curious, because I thought your child is in Pui Kiu.

How about Yew Chung's student behaviour? Any comments?

Heard that ESF has drug problems, but maybe all international schools have that problem.

"drug problem"...do you actually know any case personally? Or is it just your 'impression'? Drug problem....everywhere la....又点会只是国際学校AH？政府D宣伝都係中英都有架。

I am an ESF parent and I dont know anything about Yew Chung at all. If I have the money I wont hesitate and just go to Yew Chung. Or in fact if i cld afford I wld choose German Swiss.

Why would you not hesitate to leave ESF even you din't know Yew Chung? Is ESF that unsatisfactory?

ESF is not bad, we have been thinking about Yew Chung
because of its Christian value and music development.
But would like to know more about other aspects.

我覚得有時只将数字比較、有点不科学、挙例、RC＆ESF的学生人数完全不同、以一個AVERAGE分数去説哪一間学校academically better 有点問題LOR。　不過説回現実、有幾多人是覚得ESF的成績好、所以想入呢？　可能好多都係又不想読本地、但又只可AFFORD　ESF的価銭、所以是退而求其次。

如果真係睇數字，某校的 ib average 好似好高，但似乎好多人都唔知，佢地 D 學生，唔係個個都可以升讀 IBDP；學校只會選最 top 的少數學生讀 IBDP，未被 "欽點" 可以升上去讀 IBDP 的學生的去向我都唔係好知，呢 D (冇得原校讀上去) 唔係光彩的事，唔係個個家長會講出黎，一般都啞子吃黃蓮，低調咁幫仔女搵另一條路行

你話因為宗教和音樂，想轉校。
咁，ESF 的確冇宗教背景，但你當天點解都要揀 ESF ？即使之前讀的培僑，都冇宗教背景架。
不過，如果呢個因素對你真係好重要，咁你可以睇睇 ICS 或 CAIS，呢兩間口碑都比某校好得多，不過當然亦難考得多。
至於音樂，一般學校都不外乎 CHOIR，BAND，ORCHESTRA 之類。ESF 每年都有音樂活動，部份是自己校內的，部份是和全部其他 ESF 學校一齊搞，規模不小，2011 年 10 月有 CARMEN，當時間間 ESF (中學) 都有派人去參與，無論係 instrumental 和 vocal，水準都好高。

或者人地ARM　ARM信左主都不定。　　突然想起有間学校MAY　BE　SUITABLE,個名好長、好似是基督国際音楽学校、可以試試！！

I want to make it clear, first and foremost, that I am not a YC parent and I am not writing this to challenge or upset anyone. But I do sometimes find some of the criticism directed against YC completely unfounded. True. There are kids who are not doing as well. But, in every school there are bound to be happy and unhappy parents, as there are good and problem kids. The problem kids may not reflect very well on their parents but (it may offend but I'm going to say it anyway), problem kids usually have problem parents. I find it amusing that some people who know not a thing about YC love to question the school. It's very true that most of the kids come from rich families. But how can one translate that per se into that all the kids unruly and do not have their studies at heart? Figures do not lie. The figures that I manage to collect from the internet say that YC kids are, academically, doing just fine.

Thanks for your analysis! But isn't RC part of ESF? Why is RC slightly better than ESF? Is that the statistical figures announced by ESF are for ESF schools only (excluding RC & DC)?

I have visited YC secondary before, personally I don't like it at all... seems lack of energy to me. I suggest you visit them and observe the students for some time. If just want a religious background, can choose other IS.

I visited the briefing session before. I was surprised that there was a G12 student told that she has been in YC since k2，her speaking English not very fluently as IS student，just like LS level，majority of the students are speaking cantonese in between in the campus 。That is th point i will not apply for my girl，i want my girl can make use of the enviroment to speak better English

Hi All,

My kid goes to YC (only in elementary/primary school). He seems to enjoy his time there. What I really liked about the school is that it focus on both Chinese and English. I am also a Christian so the Christian values they teach is a bonus for me. However, I think all schools teach you to do what is right, so that does not matter much for me. We do very little additional study after school for him on English and Chinese. He can pick up a book and read the sentences okay so I am quite happy with that (using what he learned in school).

I know nothing about ESF so can't comment.
