As so many parents are interested in this topic, I have opened a new thread instead of letting the posts be buried in an irrelevant thread.
English - please give me some idea on how you assess a school's English level so that I can address to this issue more accurately. Each person has different ways of assessment so I would like to be to the point in answering questions.
Homework - about 4-8 items per day (quite little in the first month), usually a little more on weekend, small projects are assigned to be done during long holidays (CNY, for example). Christmas is mostly for revision (exam in early Jan), so there are revision worksheets to do, but not too intensive.

regarding the HW, may I have an idea of the "time consuming" (knowing every kid is different)

Half an hour to more than 2 hours. The range is very wide, depending on the boy and the type of homework.

Thomasha, in terms of speaking, listening, writing skills. Can u advise about the English level?
作者: thomasha 時間: 12-3-13 19:23
Speaking - students are required to interact in English in English lessons. They seem to be quite confident to speak in English. 2 NET lessons per week.
Listening - Periodic training (worksheets for classwork). There are online assignments which have a native English speaker reading passages and have reading comprehension and listening exercises.
Writing - progressive development, such as sentence --> letter or short story (several lines). Basic skills are taught too. 1 dictation per week.
The school also provides optional channels for subscription to web sites which we find quite helpful in developing different skills. One site we subscribed has exercises in grammar, comprehension, speaking and writing every week.

Why not? :)

just curious whether they could speak like native.

YW is a predominantly Chinese school. Even the top elite schools' students may not speak like a native English speaker in terms of accent and use of words and expressions. However, fluency can be trained.

Maths level of P1:? YW is famous for its maths. It progresses quite quickly.
Test and Exam content? only those taught in the class? Yes
For GS, questions on current affairs (news) will also be given. Online quizzes are given once a month.
In fact, answers to these questions will be explained in detail in the parents' orientation in Aug, so please be patient and wait for that occasion to ask teachers directly.
