請問你地點樣同仔女選科?
除咗要仔女有興趣之外,有無特別野要留意?
例如是否最好有1科外語.

We thought about these factors:-
1.  Which subjects my kid is interested in?
2.  Which subjects he is good at?
3.  What subject he wants to take in university and any requirement?
4.  Which subject is relatively easier to pass or get A*/A (depending on the kid's objective)?
5.  Which subject is relatively time-demanding?
.................. etc.

My kid chose English Lit, English Lang, Maths, Chinese, one foreign language, 3 science and 2 humanities. We changed our mind so many times that we lost count. Anyway, we are glad that it's over and done with.

No, he didn't choose Performing Art as it was not an option for him.

Which foreign language did your kid choose?Is it difficult for him/her?

Some people say that some languages are easier to learn than the others. It might be true. But what is more important is whether your kid is a language person. My elder kid is not good at languages and therefore struggles a bit. My young one does quite well in languages in general and I think he's born that way. Having said that, I think the amount of time and effort the kid spends on learning the language is the decisive factor.

我都想了解多一些GCSE，有些同學話讀十科，更有人讀十一科。至於Science 方面可以分 Additional Science or Three separate sciences (Biology, Physics and Chemistry)。請幫忙解答!謝謝!

我同佢商量過,佢想大學時讀有關工商科,所以現在選了Bussiness Studies 和 ICT,
其餘還可以選什麼科目呢?

I understand that each school is different. Some offer subjects that others don't. Some allow you to take a maximum of 10 subjects and some don't. Some even limit the combination. Perhaps if you could tell us which school your kid goes to or what subjects are available. Then it may be easier for other parents to give you advice.

我孩子學校的做法如下：
（1）Eng Lang, Eng Lit, Math這三科是必修
（2）foreign language(孩子選French)
（3）triple science (physics, chemistry & biology) or double science, 孩子選前者
（4）2 humanities (其中一科最好是history/geography, 因為English
Baccalaureate)
（5）最後學校提議有一科practical subject,感覺會balance些，孩子選music，

一共十科，希望可以作參考。

我覺得揀科首要看小朋友將來想入那一間大學和那一科，例如讀law名U喜歡揀一些讀History和political science的學生，你最好到London u等網站research個別科目的收生要求才揀讀那些科目。

另外，如year 10先開始讀外文就不選讀外文，很好學校會因小朋友追不上要你中途強迫你drop了科外文又唔比你轉科以免影晌學校排名。

如你小朋友是想讀理科，就唔好揀double science, 很多排名高的中六學校係唔收double science的學生讀理科，讀double science想中六轉校會有困難。

阿大間學校好似一個double science A star先等如triple science A，因double science是比triple淺好多。

至於點揀科就要睇心儀大學個別科目的收生要求。

另外中國學生唔好讀中文，因排名高的大學㑹唔計中國人呢科的成績，只有中下逰的大學才計, 個人認為讀中文是浪費時間，你可葽求學校考GCSE中文，還有如讀8科是太少，很多名校是計10科成績，對於中六轉校有難度。

我看大部份選擇基於成績，是否容易攞A或A*來選科。

我會以大學本科為本，以心儀大學的收生條件為綱，因為GCSE考試中，可以認定自己的喜好及強項，對AL事半功倍。
