May I know how a P3 kinder students be prepared to learn more P1 level maths ? My kid is still playing around single digit operation from the homework shown. My kid sometimes still use counting by fingers. What a shame! However, I dont want to boost my kid to start drilling double digit operation. What methods esp in daily life we can upgrade my kid's math skills and logical skills? Or simply join enopi maths class?......A little bit struggle indeed......Any sharings?? Thanks!!!!!

Your kid should be able to count number very fast verbally. At least 1 to 100. If not, you should practise counting all kinds of things with your kid.  If your kid remember number sequence well, (s)he does not need to count fingers.  Using fingers is only a habit.

如果你唔想操佢,可以試吓同佢玩game,好似兒童版UNO ,輸了計分。玩飛行棋,用兩粒dices。遊戲中學習,一定係最好。

My kid is in K3 too, and he's doing the same as this is what the school is teaching. When adding two numbers with result bigger than 10, he sometimes need to do it with fingers.    We just follow the school's curriculum and didn't go for any extra tuition.  I think it is okay as I feel that at this stage counting fingers reinforces the concept of addition and how the answer comes from.  Of course in the longer run (e.g. after promoting to P1), when he has more confident and more well versed, he should not count fingers anymore.  

By the way, for a kid with normal IQ and at K3, what is your expectation of their math level?

其實唔駛擔心喎, 小朋友上小學好多野自然會識. 我小朋友讀活動教學幼稚園, 數學都係SINGLE DIGIT, 50-100都係岩岩完成K3先寫完.  佢地而家P.1,  學校上學期巳有好似代數的加減數做. 我小朋友都可以做得好好. 我小朋友在升小一暑假時先開始返數學班, 但只返了幾個月, 未返之前是我教她們數學的. 都是基本加數而巳.  所以佢地要識真係自然會識. 有D課程係你諗唔倒佢地可以做得甘好.

我又覺得enopi 個d都幫到學計算的, 我估一般k3 都 basic = level 10-11 左右, 可以雙位加減同小小乘數概念, 我個都對數唔敏感, 我都盡量比佢用真錢去買下野, 問下佢10元可以買到幾個4元面包之類的實用問題, 好似又好d.

E.nopi Lv 11 已經學到千位加數同百位減數。

What a shame. 大人有時都數手指啦!這句話應該係你的小孩子跟你說,因為佢有這樣的父毋,完全唔理解兒童的發展。

何shame之有?
又冇迫小朋友,小朋友如果唔鍾意或能力未到,想迫都迫唔黎。
咁我唔係小朋友,我唔可以話自己好了解小朋友,不過如果小朋友覺得有趣佢想繼續學,咁你有能力,你俾唔俾佢繼續學呢?

生活上有很多機會教孩子數學的
例如,
和囝囝在巴士總站等巴士,我會問他巴士每邊有幾個車輪?加起來共有幾個?

他們很喜歡吃餅乾,我就會開一小包,叫他們數數總共有幾多塊?每人可以 分到幾多塊(包括我)?(叫他們輪流每人分一塊,看看每人可以有幾多塊)
小朋友經常吃小食,所以很多機會叫他們數的,糖,生果等等,甚麼都可以數。起初一個一個地數,習慣後,可以兩個兩個地數。

小朋友玩玩具時亦可以數數,玩車可以問他們有幾多架。玩公仔又可以叫他們數。

吃飯時,可以問他們需要幾多隻碗?幾多對筷子?

我們的生活其實是與數學息息相關的,問題是家長需要花時間去教孩子。
