我的孩子現就讀band1英中的F.3,
出年打算轉校讀IB pre-year
可選科目:
理科:phy,chem,bio
文科:econ,hist,geog
以上科目的上學期級名次如下:
理科:
phy:5x/18x
chem:12x/18x
bio:14x/18x
文科:
EPA:3x/18x
hist:8x/18x
geog:2x/18x
打算揀Econ+Phy+?
anchan59曾建議加chem or bio(因為可以多D大學學系揀)
但係呀囡D成績同興趣…………好似chem or bio都不是佢杯茶……
力有不逮………(但係佢學校理科教深過其他普通band1學校)
而hist同geog則hist有多少少興趣,geog成績就比較好,都有興趣(只是不及hist多興趣)
希望大家幫幫忙,比少少意見,thx

With additional info , go for Geo or History. Chem & Bio not her strengths. Less choices in university, but this is her best option.

chuntam quoted my suggestion which I didn't know her strengths in another post, I suggested Chem and Bio can be a good options for her to consider, based on general consideration and expanded her options in university.
In this new post, he listed out her strengths clearly, in the above post i also suggested her to pick between Hist and Geo.

Dear Anchan,
謝謝回覆. 女儿也是今年選科, 但不是IB, 她也同樣有兴趣 Hist/Geog,
但如選擇這两科, 学校的組合只能再加壹科Bio or Econ, 此两科女儿都
可以應付, 只是怕日後高Form時, 是否有靈活的头腦去掌握Econ,
暫時對於將來職業還是不太清楚, 是否應考慮入大学机会先?
請給我些意見應該如何選擇, 謝謝！

You are right, if she doesn't have program(s) or career objective(s) in mind, focus on her interest is the best option.
According to my son, he loves Economics, can apply to daily life easily. All depends on kid's taste and interest.

其實她在學校也不打算選hist/geog作新高中選修科目,我也十分奇怪同樣地新高中她打算選Phy+Econ再加BAFS
她認為這樣可以將來入U除了金融經濟等學系之外,亦可以揀牙醫(一科理科)
請問IB方面一科理科將來入U可否揀牙醫呢?

Applicants are welcome to apply for admission to the BDS programme through the Non-JUPAS Admissions Scheme. Information on University entrance requirements (UERs), application procedures, and the application form are accessible from the HKU website. Please note that the BDS programme does not set additional programme entrance requirements on top of UERs.

No special requirement in Science subject, may be they know IBDP should have at least one Science subject, if not you can't get IBDP.

A dentist friend said chem was a must. I think physics is also important because as a dentist, he/she needs to deal with hi-tech appliances such as a X-ray machine.

我想問吓你的意見, Hist/Geog/Econ or Hist/Geog/Bio , 那個組
合對入U機会較大, 另 Bio or Econ, 那科比較容易讀, 小女不喜
歡思考和計數, 故不知如何選取, 謝謝！

I am not sure your question address to penguin_chick or me. I try to answer your question based on my knowledge.
I like Biology and my son like Economic, different person has different view. You better ask your daughter. For dentistry, biology will be more useful than physic. Operating of X-ray machine no need to have physic or engineering background.

IB 沒有 BAFS 這科的, 但Group 3 有 Business and Management 可以選.

IB科目本來十分多元化,可是直資學校只能搞些「大路野」選擇變相比hkdse(nss)更少

直資的HKDSE課程很多也只搞大路野, 選擇也不見得比IB多.

Yes, both schools allow students to apply IB and NSS, DBS allows students to make the final decision when they know their final exam results in July. I guess SPCC more or less the same.

SPCC四月中有面試結果意味住如能成功入讀的話,五月六月好難開口叫囡囡專心上堂
