If a student who had never touch thesubjects of econ/business/account is now got an offer by HKUST for business doyou think she can manager? She is only an average student (not A-grade student)been studying in Canada for the last 4 years who get used to the 比較舒服的學習生活.
She took Bio & Chemfrom grade 9-12. Please advise………..

I believe you should let the student knows what the loading would be like and be prepared if he/she is studying at HKUST, as I have heard that the homework is rather heavy there.

You should ask whether she is interested in those courses offered by HKUST. If she is not interested in, it's hard for her to face the challenges.

Studying in university is different from high school. She may perform much better at university than at high school if she determines to make it work.

我就係例子
讀一間唔出名既中學, a level符碌得左, 入到ust bba, 當年中學d科好怪, 我無掂過econ, acct, business (係0%), 數學只係普通math去到f5仲要拎個d
我同意樓上講, ust係比較辛苦的, 我同升去第2間u既同學比較過, 同一科同一本書, 我地教多1/3本, 即係話我地全年既工作都比其他u多左1/3(備課睇書都睇多d啦), 而bba好多required subjects都係全部人同一科, 即係話譬如acct001, 人地a level拎個a又係讀果科, 我大字都唔識一個又係take果科, 好明顯要追得好辛苦(一個學期on average take 5科), 我仲記得我year 1第一個sem, take acct, econ, stat, algebra仲有電腦, 5科我都未掂過! (想當年我連點開電腦都未識) 真係慘, econ個lecturer係一個19歲拎phd既天才, 我上佢堂真係辛苦到

當然又話分兩頭, 學習主唔主動好緊要, 要追唔係無可能, 外國讀書有優點, 就係英文好同埋習慣自學, 自學呢樣野, 好多本地生都習慣填鴨, 外國返黎會比較易上手d(敢去搵lecturer/teaching assistant, 識去圖書館搵資料, 識digest黎寫essay), 總之要靠努力, 無咩話唔得, 我都畢到業啦

科大係好學校, 唔好放棄呀!

Thanks very much for your sharing. I would like to know is it easy to change from bba to science if he can't make it. Also, once some of the subjects fail what will be happen?
