Era 話有人啫，我睇佢語氣冇講話好多人會放或貶低 St Paul boy 嘅。兩間學校叮噹碼頭有人放 St Paul boy 真係唔出奇; 相反放 YW 嘅應該都會有。放鬆啲啦家長。

I think those who live Hk island will choose st Paul boys and Kowloon side will choose ying wa. Both ying wa and st Paul boys are very good school.

想請教:

不是很清楚有沒有發信（但相信既然是網上公佈，就不會另外發信，取錄與否亦然），不過是有學生在開學後一天才正式上學的，所以現在已見過校長但尚未被取錄的，暫時不要絕望。

If you happen to find quite a no. who got admitted to YW are from SC or KV (which I am not sure), I won't be surprised as these two kindergartens produce a huge no. of graduates every year.
To get the YW's offer, I think it matters more if a boy can demonstrate his genuine characters (can't be too naughty though) and more importantly an affinity for reading books. In fact, there will be lots of reading assignments and book reports starting from P.1.

我小朋友不是讀這兩間的，是在一間出名愉快學習的幼稚園就讀。
正如Cornelius所講，我諗關鍵係小朋友身上，並非全是幼稚園的功勞。反而覺得父母所投入的時間俾小朋友嘅結果會更明顯。

就個人觀察所得，去年小一有不少St Cat和Kentville的小朋友，不過似乎取錄與否跟幼稚園沒有直接關係，因為小兒並非該兩幼稚園之畢業生。

我諗你可以睇番我之前既留言, 雖然我係YW家長, 但係我從來都冇話過YW點樣正, 點樣好. 我只會就一D人講到YW既野, 而講番我見到既情況係點啫, 但唔會話人地講既事一定唔會發生. 其實每間學校都一定有佢既優點同缺點, 對唔同既人來講, 優點亦可以變成缺點. 最緊要都係適合.

You can go to YW website: http://www.yingwaps.edu.hk/ . There are lots of links 有關林校長向電視/電台訪問, 報章.  If you have time go the view them all, you will have some idea.

Besides, to prepare P1 interviews (not limited to YW), the below are some suggestions.

P1 Interviews
Interview performance is the most important part, you need to train/ prepare your kid for the followings :
- chinese reading skill (some even need you to write)
- english reading skill (some even ask you to spell)
++ remember to train the high frequency words as well, as they are asked to read sentences/ books.
- 中英文重組句子 (some schools)
- Maths (addition and substraction, some even 文字題 - read by the teacher)
- Logic questions (sequences and patterns)
- Describe pictures (need to train them to say as much as they can by themselves)
- find differences
- story telling (including rearrange pictures, tell the story from the provided pictures)
- picture drawing (mainly test creativity, presentation)
- Apart from the above, group games like making puzzles, legos, blocks building etc, 體能, 自理能力 are sometimes covered in the interview for some schools

Portfolio (not very important but still needs one)
-You can try to start thinking about it. What do you want to show to the primary schools, if you find some aspect missing, you still have time to obtain it. A well-balanced profile may help. Start collecting the certificates, if any.

School report:
-If possible, Try to get a good K2 2nd term report (usually they asked for the 2nd term report).

Recommendation letter
- Prepare 自薦信
- get recommendation letter from kinder or other learning centres if any

Target DSS/ Private school:
- Start gather information, understand their 教學理念
- Beware of  簡介會date and time

我仔仔現在K1，但已留意YW很久，想知具體D，如何培養你的小朋友，增加入圍機會。
1)閱讀—我每天都會跟仔仔看2本中及2本英文書。還有什麼可以做？
2)Math—你們是自己教小朋友加減數嗎？或出去上堂？
3)面試班—如有上，主要訓練那方面呢？
4)準備interview, 有什麼要注意呢?

No, I live in HK side but I choose YW......it really depends on the character of your son.....as he is more active.

though I still can say, both school are good

Congratulation. YW is such a good school you will not regret your choice. Homework is not too much although not too easy. A lot of different activities to choose from that can let your kid to explore his potential and to build up self confident. Good parent support is required too.

1. 要小朋友真正喜歡閱讀，校長睇得出。
2. Math自已教得啦，我無公文或奧數。
3. 面試班對英華interview我覺得無用，而我亦都無上過任何面試班。
4. 小朋友要有禮貌，有問有答，同人講嘢要有眼神接觸，斯文得嚟活潑，活潑得嚟唔曳，大方得體。
不過最緊要記性要好，細心好緊要！
